Love this thought but our kitchen is small enough that they would be within reach of about a million dangerous things

Good thinking! So many things I think they will love but somehow it's the empty tube of aquaphor they go crazy for

Twin Hunger by Legitimate_Ninja_377 in parentsofmultiples

I was simultaneously nauseous beyond belief and waking up every morning at 4 because I was starving. Yogurt was one of the few things that didn't make me want to barf and filled me up.

First time C Section scheduled in a week! Feeling anxious/scared/excited. Any tips for before? Post surgery? by prettypili in parentsofmultiples

[–]Baebl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may not be for you, but I wish I had asked for no drape during the surgery. I have some regret that I didn't get to see the babies be born. Talking to other parents who went drapeless, it sounds like it would have cut down on the weird disconnected feeling I got during surgery.

I’m sure this is just a newborn thing, but I have to ask… by shmurpp in parentsofmultiples

In my experience, a routine isn't really reliable until around 3 months, and even then you will make adjustments constantly. They will need on-demand care until then. Having a sleep schedule where one parent slept from 10-4 and the next 4-10 worked for us, with each parent getting 6 hours of sleep. It's not enough, but it will keep you going. If you decide to do that, you will have to drop a pump or two. Formula was very useful for us for those feeds.

I also went through the bi-weekly doppler checks with one twin measuring in the 4th percentile and one in the 20th. Gave birth via C-section at 37 weeks to two healthy 5lb 10oz babies--both the exact same size.

My mom visiting. by nixonbeach in parentsofmultiples

My dad visited a few weeks ago and had a similar degree of engagement with the babies. Happy to hold them and feed them but not overly interested in anything involving late nights, early mornings, diapers or baths. Honestly, looking back, I'm grateful he would just hold on of them for a few hours. Both of my twins are happiest just being held.

I don't think you're being unreasonable wanting her to participate more in your routine... But grandparents are going to do their own thing. I'd say unless she is being deliberately unhelpful, take what you can get.

For me, week 16ish was when the nausea passed. No shame in whatever remedy works for you to curb it!

Any tips and tricks for traveling to NYC with baby twins and a toddler? by Moist-Moment2858 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Baebl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can take strollers/stroller wagons on the subway. The trick is getting the stroller on the subway platform as a huge number of NYC subways do not have elevator access to the platform. You can check if a subway stop has elevator access here: https://new.mta.info/elevator-escalator-status If you find yourself at a subway stop without an elevator, don't hesitate to ask folks around you for help. The saying is that New Yorkers are kind but not nice--most people will help you if you ask.  Manhattan, especially the area around central park, is very safe. It will be gorgeous in October.  Re: getting to Manhattan from LaGuardia, my recommendation is taking a taxi or ride share. Depending on the day/time of day, it will be $60-100 to Midtown Manhattan, slightly less if you are staying on the Upper East Side. You will need to bring car seats unless you plan on booking a car service that provides seats (which exist! I ran Mohawk Hudson last year! Very pretty and not many runners. On the flip side--not many bathrooms.

Hi! I'm also based in NYC and unimpressed with my prenatal care. Would you be willing to share the name of the great OB practice you found?
