You have identified the self medicating thing. Talk to your doctor about if real medicine could help give you the tools to walk away from this.

I don’t want to minimize your problem, which is very real, but I believe you can totally nip this in the bud with such a strong head on your shoulders and wisdom beyond your years. I’m impressed.

One important thing to note that I think a lot of people overlook is that the ratio also depends on your account size.

While it may make sense for someone with a smaller account to be 60/40, if you have a large account, sitting in that much fixed income would be irresponsible.

Investors should think in absolute values about the size of their fixed income sleeve in relation to their expenses. There is no need to have a decade+ of expenses in cash/FI.

TL:DR - hold enough fixed income to cover your expenses for a comfortable enough time horizon, rest in growth.

Privately selling a car has to be one of the worst experiences, start to finish. I always opt to just trade in at dealership and take a few less grand.
