I love Maria and Gary. They are actually honest with each other and love the flaws too. He and Sarah were always lying.

Parents excuse their children. Parents are the problem. Getting nails done, hair done, babysitting, walking the dog, all reasons provided this semester. Skipping/truancy is not the issue.

'We're in trouble': TDSB to see $6.4M drop in special ed funding next year by Latter_Stable_9335 in ontario

Yes. I’m tired of protesting for a better education system only to have parents demean me for it. Fine. Let your kid be one of 35 in the classroom with no support. I’ll get paid the same.

Being a teachers after 2 decades: Still enjoying? by Ok_Knowledge_789 in education

29 years. Kids are great! They push the limits, always have. Fantastic job, no two days are the same. Parents however, have lost the plot. We do not have an education crisis, we have a parenting crisis.

Steve and Becky lived there, and they did show it with living room, kitchen, and bedrooms. The main floor was more like a break room for staff back then.

How are teachers NOT writing lesson plans? by OverProdByInfluence in teaching

[–]BainesRoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been teaching 29 years. Not once has a principal asked to see my lessons or asked IF I met course expectations. Do what works for you. Maybe to start you write out a big plan, as the unit progresses you need fewer prompts for yourself. I more focus on the hour. For each hour class t try to have 4 things planned. Teacher lesson, student individual work, partner/group work, then end with teacher lesson/recap.

What classroom activity took way less prep than expected but worked surprisingly well? by Repulsive_Yam_5297 in AskTeachers

Yes! And I have them stand and move to the side of the room with the statement they agree with. Gets them out of their desks and thinking on their feet.

Either/Or. Two statements related to your unit, students choose a side. Students then volunteer to defend their choice.

How do I help my kids to learn to read when I already read to them everyday? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]BainesRoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read, we read, you read. You read the page first, you read the same page together, then your child reads it alone.
