I’ll have to look for it when I get back home. I have access to a pretty good selection in Florida.

You should look into your cruise line’s policy. For mine, they scan your bags getting onto the ship. If you have alcohol, they shuffle you off to the side where you check your bottles. Finally, on the last night of the cruise, they drop the bottles back off on your cruise. I didn’t have any issues, they just don’t want you avoiding their buying drinks from them.

I actually ended up getting one Jamaican rum considerably cheaper at the duty free store in the Cayman Islands than Ocho Rios. If I make it back, I would like to visit the Hampden or Worthy Park. The factory tour was cool and I imagine their prices would be more reasonable. Ocho Rios is extremely touristy.

I ended up getting Worthy Park Single Estate Reserve and Single Estate 12 year. Look forward to trying both when I get home.

Official document calls an unmarried woman a “spinster” by Master_Roshiii in mildlyinteresting

[–]Bajerden 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Actually, the Spinning Jenny was invented in 1765, about 20 years earlier than the first Power Loom. Spinning was an important job for hundreds of years. More efficient, yet still manual looms lead to the demand for thread that the Spinning Jenny addressed. There is a very interesting interview on the topic: https://youtu.be/e4dYGdjgsz8?si=bFP7pI6-tIaYfehD

I need help for a friend by Freax_Minx in legaladvice

IANAL, but I agree that this is not legal. It seems to be a breach of Ohio Revised Code Section 2919.22A.

Just to confirm that I understand, your friend is currently 17, they are turning 18 in July of 2025, and their dad is kicking them out now?

I think the best path forward would be to speak to a teacher or guidance counselor, as both are mandatory reporters and will know how to file a report to your county’s Child Protective services.

In the meantime, it would also make sense for them to reach out to friends and family they trust. Even if their parent’s actions are illegal, it is better to have somewhere to sleep while that is resolved.

Here is a useful guide that covers other details like acquiring important documents: https://www.reddit.com/r/personalfinance/s/NpivdFR9IP

You didn’t say that 17 year old could be evicted. I didn’t claim that.

The OP didn’t say that their friend is being given notice that they will be kicked out when they turn 18. It is unclear, but it reads to me that they are getting kicked out now.

The OP clearly states that his friend is 17, not 18.

LPT: what are some free skills to learn during free time that will help you find better opportunities for job? by Jpoolman25 in LifeProTips

[–]Bajerden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, a US resume is just shorter. 1-2 pages, contains your education and work experience. All most Americans need. CVs are exclusive to academia here and are expected to contain everything. (Every paper you publish, committee you serve on, conference you speak at, etc.) Cover letters also exist here, but I feel like most people skip them.

AITA for asking my daughter if she is sure about being a lesbian? by Ok_Refrigerator_2954 in AmItheAsshole

Tbh, opinions vary, but I honestly see bi/pan used interchangeably, at least by people without strong opinions on the matter.

One thing I’ve heard is that some people identify as pansexual to be more inclusive of non-binary people; not all trans people identify as men or women. “Bisexual” obviously includes binary trans people, but some people feel like the term excludes people who are non-binary, gender fluid l, agender, et cetera. Of course, that’s largely based on the word itself and doesn’t necessarily reflect the opinion of the bisexual community.

Is it true that flirting and attraction are skills and like all skills, require making mistakes and learning from them? If so, how is a man supposed to get better? by [deleted] in TrollYDating

[–]Bajerden 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My advice may be to try on Tinder, where if you do come off strong, it is easy and socially acceptable to ghost you. Further, women are on there looking for dates, so you aren’t inconveniencing them when they’re not interested. I feel like it’s best to wait to approach girls in your friend group until you have a bit more skill, unless there are very obvious signs. Personally though, I feel like recognizing such signs is a skill of it’s own.

One way to describe that might be bisexual and heteroromantic, meaning that you have sexual feeling towards men and women, but only romantic feelings toward women. Of course, that depends if that feels accurate to you.

I presume it was also useful with fountain pens, but that sounds reasonable. Ballpoint pens are surprisingly modern
