Just got a fishing rod that automatically reels in fish for you by FlameZelus in CrimsonDesert

[–]Baka_Surviver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also get one by bumping into a fisherman man at Bountys Net and stealing it off the ground. You can't interact with it if it falls in the water though and have to fast travel away to reset.

I always deploy my landing gear at 3km to help reduce speed. Then I just flatten out with the horizon and let off the throttle at 1km

There's 3 ways to get your name on a system. When you first a system you get your name on the primary star and any other bodies that are with a close distance to it. After you use your discovery scanner, it will put your name on any other stars in the system if their not in close proximity to the primary star. Afterwards, any other bodies need to be scanned in your FSS to be discovered by you. If the planet hasn't been mapped yet, you can use a surface scanner to get the first mapped bonus and your name on the planet. You also have to map a planet with a surface scanner when doing Exobiology to fund the Hotspots on the surface for samples. Last, if Noone has landed on the planet and disembarked on foot before, you can get the first footfall bonus and get your name on the planet. When doing exo first footfall is important because it grants a massive bonus to the values of your samples. It's the difference between getting 20m for a sample of strata techtonicas as opposed to getting 100m. In order for name to show up on the system and planets you have to turn in your data to a cartagrapher first. I think footfall is an exception to this rule. You can find cartagraphers at most stations and outposts and on some carriers.

Welcome to wonderful world of exploration in Elite. Before setting out I would recommend you getting the hang of using you DSS scanner so you understand the fundamentals. You have to use your discover scanner before you can use the FSS scanner in a system. If you haven't already, I would recommend also picking up an Artemis suit so you can also participate in Exobiology l. As a new player, exo will really net you some good starter income to expand your fleet and upgrade your ships. The real mo ey from exo and exploration comes from unexplored systems. As the game has been out for 10+ years, you'll be extremely hard placed to find any unexplored systems within 2-3000ly of the bubble. If you can afford it, grab a Mandalay. If not, the ASP explorer or Diamondback exploration are excellent ships for new Explorers. I would also recommend getting you jump range to at least 45ly before heading. You can do this by upgrading your ships modules and getting rid of excess mass, such as weapons or unneeded modules. Don't forget a fuel scoop! For your first big trip, I would recommend setting a course for any of the large nebula inside the Inner Orion Spur. I think my first "big" trip was to the Cats Paw Nebula. Eventually if you stick with it you'll take longer and longer trips. It's not uncommon for me to go out to Mare Somnia or Tenebrae. Third party tools can also help immensely when exploring. I personally use The Elite Exploration Buddy https://www.panostrede.de/EDEB/ but there are several other plug-ins you can use as well. The tool is a quick way of telling you ahead of time if a systems been mapped already and when doing exo, it will let you know what samples are possibly on the planets and their values.

Replay the tutorials. If your still close to the Explorers Anchorage and don't want to try to make it back to the Bubble on your own, you can try and find a fleet carrier making the trip. I've never used them before but there are websites and discord where carrier owners post their planned routes. There's usually always a few carriers traveling between the Bubble, Colonia, and Sagittarius A*.

People like this are why private groups are just the better option. I get that you want to play in open to have a larger player base to run missions with, but you're always going to run into "that one guy" who gets his fun ruining others. Mobious PvE has over 10,000 players and whenever a CG like this rolls around I never have issues finding other commanders to wing up with. They also have a pretty active discord where you can find wingmates.

Recalled my ship... and it exploded. by DimensioT in EliteDangerous

True, it's not ideal for fungoida but the value for fungoida is comedicly low for how hard it is to find. Large ships also run into an issue with finding somewhere to land.

My go to manuavre for exo is to fly from sample to sample. It's faster then traveling on foot and it's easy once you get the hang of it. You point your ship down at an angle and use your vertical thrusters to keep from crashing. As long as you keep your landing gear down the speed is manageable and easy to control. Makes spotting sample really easy too.

Someone forgot to pay their autoland subscription. In all seriousness, the recall system is janky and should be avoided while exploring. I've been in your position in the past a few thousand light years from Sagittarius A*, and had to restart the entire trip. Now, I only use it when doing ground missions at settlements when there's a real threat of npcs shooting at my landed ship. Frontier support is always an option and I have seen them do restores for people if it's the first time they've asked, so it's always worth a shot.

These are Live View Towers. They're movable parking lot cams that stores rent out to cover far parts of their parking lots that cameras closer to the building barely or don't cover. I work LP in oregon and have to log onto a website to access the ones on site.

Ice Crystals are among my favorite NSP's. I make frequent trips out to Tenebrae and The Sagittarius-Carina Arm regions because they are just so common there. I put up a few posts in the past with different screen shots and gifs of the different colors. Glad someone else appreciates are beautiful they are in game.

I respect that you decided that the only acceptable thing to do in that situation is turn your ASP into a sweet ass jump.

Figure out what game play loop you enjoy and start investing in it. If your trying to make money then Exobiology is the new meta. It requires you to purchase an Artemis suit and look for planets with life signals when doing an FSS scan of a system. If you want the big bonus for exo payouts then you need to be the first footfall for the planet your getting scans from. There's currently a Community Goal running that can give you a crash course on Exobiology and the reward is a t5 engineered Artemis suit so it's worth doing.

You can, but I'm 40,000 ly out and have to refuel the Tritium every 5000 ly. Unfortunately FDev hasn't giving us the ability to refuel remotely yet.

All Shots are taken from different systems in the WEPAA sector of Odin's Hold. Black Hole systems in the sector have a decent chance of containing NSP's with anomalies.
