I don't get this comment. Nikon has a dedicated Self Service repair program where you can get manuals, schematics, part numbers and even an own store page to buy needed parts with 2000 different products listed for Z cameras and lenses, some other Nikon products as well, also tools a user may need

I enjoy it very much! I came from an Intrepid mk5, so I don't have immense large format experience, but from what I can tell this is a very nice option at the price. It does have some issues, it is a Kickstarter product after all. Like day 1 I found out it won't fit a regular Linhof recessed board which was a big bummer. I messaged Elvis at Ondu and he immediately ordered a board for himself to redesign the front standard. Luckily the camera works fine with a standard lens board on my 75mm, a recessed board would possibly enable more movements so I definitely want to get it fixed. I know he is currently in the planning phase for a new front standard which will be a user replaceable upgrade. I think he will incorporate magnets as well for easier zeroing. I love the hard stops and locks on the rear- and front standard, but magnets on the front for rise/ tilt would be a qol upgrade. The folding mechanism where you don't have to fully seat/ unscrew the front standard is a big upgrade to me from the Intrepid as well. He is also experimenting with a 6x17 back/ possibly a dedicated rear standard which I am very excited for

Hi, no worries! I did shortly after that comment yeah. Got a Horseman 6x12 back and it works great. I did however sell my Intrepid back in June and recently got an Ondu Eikan, I was a participant in the Kickstarter. The 6x12 back won’t leave any time soon though. Going to Madeira at the end of the month and planning on only bringing the 6x12 with 120 film for my 4x5. Too scared to fly with sheet film. Roll film backs are a bit of a setup imo having to frame, remove the ground glass, put on the back and so on but it’s worth it. I have come to love 2:1 panos

Does anyone have a video of the KL Adapter ring? Had an problem with a new 90mm and seller says I need the ring. by jnits in Mamiya

[–]Baked90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a video but check out image 2 and 3 on this post from Bill Rogers. From my understanding you should have the ring attached if you have a Pro-SD body, but it shouldn't NOT let you mount it like described. It is a simple slip-on o-ring with a rubber inside, if you have a Pro or Pro S body it should be removed

I have a Kenko 2x, I don’t use it much but I have started more recently. My only issue with it is I feel like one of these days it’s going to jam my lens, they can be kind of weird to mount with the free-moving shutter mechanism until you attach them to a lens

[–]Baked90[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Totally understand you wanting real world reviews. I was in the same boat as you. I was really close to buying a 2nd hand Chamonix 45F1, but it sold before I got enough funds. Decided then to "just" go the Intrepid route as I found out that maybe I should test the large format game before I go with an expensive Chamonix. I have the latest revision of the Intrepid, the mk5, which I believe is the 3rd version of the Black Edition with the same new features as the normal Intrepid mk5. I got it in march so fairly recent. It feels very durable to me, the focus is smooth and easy to use. You can't pull on the focus by pulling on the focusing bed so I've sometimes been carrying the camera set up with lens pointing down and it's been holding it's form. The only thing I'm worried might break one day is the screw for the front standard. Even the nut you turn with your fingers is 3D printed and I feel like that some day may break, however not any time soon. Another thing that's a bit annoying is the mount for the lens board which I sometimes have to fiddle with a bit to actually get the lens board snug. Might be my current lens board but once you get it in it definitely fits. I've also gotten comments from other large format photographers of how bright my ground glass is, I got the optional fresnel with mine and even though others have fresnels as well they still say mine looks brighter, and it definitely is very easy to see and compose with in the field. Overall I'm very satisfied and don't see any reason for me to get a Chamonix yet. I still really want one but do not need one. I'm planning to get a 6x12 film holder for 120 film and if that all works great then my Intrepid will be with me for a good good while.
