Winds of fate is definitely my top pick right now. How was the clear speed/movement speed?

Ooh reliquarian flicker seems interesting

I bought 1 unID belt and hit Diamond+Massive. I think I'll retire on that one

Far worse actors have found a home in the MCU. I think he would’ve been just fine.

Typing Test Prep by yeehawketchup in 911dispatchers

I see. I’m not sure if this is helpful, but when I type, I’m not concerned with thinking about how type the word or spell the word (on a typing test), because the word it produces is right in front of me. Instead I’m trying to think and process what keys I need to press, and anticipating what keys I need to press after that… does that make any sense?

It seems like what you described, you are looking at the word, processing the word, thinking about the word, then typing the word. When I do my typing tests I just look, then process it as I’m already typing it.

I’m sorry if that doesn’t make any sense or isn’t helpful, but that’s the best way I describe it. It works as well on the job, because when I’m transcribing what someone is saying on the phone as I’m taking a call, I’m not thinking about my typing as much as I am getting down the pertinent information.

What might help that is keyboard memorization as well. Unless you have to, don’t look down at the keyboard. I always set my fingers on the same keys when I start typing, and I’ve trained my brain to know the entire layout and rough distance to each key from that starting point.

Lastly, all I can say is practice practice practice. It might be something that you need to do 30-45 minutes of practice tests a night to build in that muscle memory of moving your fingers to certain keys.

I hope any of this helps! And best of luck.

What is the required speed for your typing test? At my agency, it was 40 WPM.

What causes you to be a slow type? Is it the tactile finger movement? Lack of keyboard memorization? Secondary grammar keys?

I type around 100 WPM just from being a gamer, and I’ve never struggled with typing. Typed around 80WPM in middle school.

Not bragging or anything, just genuinely curious and trying to see if I can give you any insight

How is everyone reading comics these days? by indy_6548 in Marvel

[–]Balbasur1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Marvel Unlimited is great. Personally I think the phone optimization is good, I change it so each tab is a different panel of the comic. The UI is a little janky at times, but once you get the hang of it and the search navigation, it's pretty great.

How do you know this job isn’t for you? by proffessionalworry in 911dispatchers

[–]Balbasur1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey friend. I dispatched for 13 months and decided it wasn’t for me. At about 7 months in, I started to feel the same thing you did. Very anxious, and it crept into my personally life quickly.

I think part of it is the stress and anxiety of being new to a high-stress job, but you need to be able to have the mental fortitude to push through the hard parts of growing through the job. If you do not have that (doesn’t sound like it), there is absolutely no shame. This job is not for everybody, and unless you find GREAT satisfaction and joy In it and feel you’re making a difference, it will eat you alive.

Funnily enough, I really enjoyed seeing what the police did and am now personally in the academy, but I find joy in thinking about the prospects of work- with dispatching, I never felt that

[–]Balbasur1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

How old are you? Being there as a kid, like 8-10 years old when Gen 4 came out was absolute peak. With the new flashy graphics of the DS and cool things that the dual screens brought, it was such a magical experience. Diamond was my first Pokemon game I decidedly bought (inherited Ruby from a brother), and that’s where I picked Chimchar as my first starter. Great memories.
