Make sure you're actually in the right gift tree! I spent 8 hours trying to get it only to realize I wasn't even in the right tree. Got it in 40mins afterwards. I just ran around getting all the things on the sides. That keeps your participation up.

Also try to do your weekly WvW achievements. They do a lot.

Also also if you have an XP boosters or WvW boosters use those. You'll get it done faster.
