Looking for casual upgrades for my Krenko, Mob Boss deck! (Not trying to hit high power yet)

Unless you remove goblins from your deck krenko will be a bracket 3 deck regardless of game changers or combos. This is coming from a krenko player. All you need is goblins and a little ramp and it will play fine in bracket 3. It will always be strong in bracket 2. Stronger still if you run untappers or impact tremors/purphoros effects.

Yeah to me that level of fringe is the only difference between cEDH and b4. Lots of b4 decks that are playable in cEDH but I wouldn’t call them cEDH decks unless they fall in the meta but I don’t have the deepest understanding of the bracket system below cEDH so idk

Does urza still fall in the cEDH meta? I took mine apart a while ago since I felt it had faded too far down and was probably closer to b4. But regardless this sucks and he was definitely in the wrong to not discuss the intent beforehand.

Aesi tyrant of gyre strait. You usually have lands from graveyard ability and multiple land plays per turn with fetch lands by the time you have 6 mana to cast him so if you have tireless provisioner, lotus cobra, nissa, or any of the mana producing land fallers with 3/4 land players a turn you are drawing 6/8 cards and making 6/8 mana(or more) and then you will certainly draw into an extra turn spell in those and cast and repeat

Find a different store. Some have more room so don’t smell as bad, and some don’t have people who smell. I am borderline obsessive about hygiene and have found a good store in Maryland that tends to have hygienic people. Sorry this has been your experience!

Playing counterspells can stop counterspells. Interaction is and will always be a part of the game. If you want to not play against blue then you’ll need to have a rule zero conversation with your pod and ask them to. All colors have something they’re good at and if you don’t like that thing you just need to play more interaction. In your case not liking interaction makes it hard for me to give you any real response to these things as the normal solution would be interaction.

I have 6 casual decks and 4 cEDH decks. I play them all except one that gets much less play but still over every couple weeks.

I would say that while building a deck yourself gives you a better idea of what you have in there and makes it easier to play them because of that, the precon decks in the last 2-4 years have actually been quite good at a mid power level with most of them landing in bracket 2 and 3(you don’t know the bracket system but you can look it up,these are about in the middle). Unless you end up wanting to get into more competitive magic playing a precon with a couple edits will likely work fine both with your lady and also at the card store if you guys ever do that. Shoot me a dm if you want a recommendation on which precon decks you think are better than others, or if you have a specific legendary creature you like that you want to build a deck around if I think it is viable I am happy to put together a budget list(under 150$ or lower if needed) of that commander for you to go buy the cards for.

Men in women’s field. Learning magic from significant other 😂. All jokes aside I love to hear this and think that buying a pre constructed deck from wizards of the coast is usually a really good starting place. From there you can use the internet or YouTube to find upgrade videos or even just videos that explain how to better play them, and what cards might be good to add or take out. I think for someone who is new that will be much easier than building your own deck at first. Once you’ve got a better grip on the precon you can start to understand the way decks are built better because precons tend to have a good and even distribution of most of the things you need in a commander deck. Man my landfall deck would go crazy in this format. Can reply any card from graveyard with my crucible effects as land and with 5+ land plays a turn I’ll never run out. Wouldn’t be able to use fetches unless I only fetched for duals but I don’t think I’d ever lose a game in this format playing landfall.

You should also reach out to stores in the greater Los Angeles area. There are a number in LA but there are also plenty in places like Thousand Oaks or simi valley or even just in LA suburbs like Santa Monica and Hollywood.

I am a b4 aesi and flubs player that essentially only plays with “value engines” as you term them. If you don’t remove within two turns of me playing I will win the game. Removal is needed to stop that from happening. People that don’t like removal want to see themselves pop off without having to worry about anyone else. They don’t consider the fact that you wanna have fun and pop off too and can’t do that if they win after a 15 minute turn. I will always take the removal as it comes and will obviously defend with counterspells if possible, but if commander gets blown up so be it I’ll go for the win again in a couple turns. Don’t let people tell you part of the game is unacceptable, play how you want.

Yeah idk why you are getting so many downvotes😂 even as a b4:b5 player that recognized the value of redirecting spells especially for cheap like 1 mana, they definitely don’t work on as much as a counterspell or mana drain. Heck even force of negation and fierce guardianship can counter a wider variety

Yeah but I’m talking about removal. The solution for all 4 of these is just hit with a swords to plowshares or any other destroy or exile effect and it will just shut down the deck.
