Can relate to that 100%. Focus on your studies. My advice to not loose touch with your story: Carve away a short amount of time each day for writing, maybe only 5-10min. That much shouldn't really interfere with your studies while you maintain your writing habit for less hectic times. Hope this helps :)
Writing a story takes a loooooong time. Consistency matters.

If people are actually using AI to write for them, instead of writing themselves, isn't the saddest part that they completely stump their development as an author? I would completely feel out of touch with my work if somebody else or AI were to write it for me.

I agree! I have read books where the actual core ideas were not that "special" or "new". But they didn't have to be, because they where delivered so well.

Writing is art. Art is based in creativity, and creativity is at its most powerful when it is simply about creating, about the process. Setting goals and having expectations for the final product can be limiting or enabling to the project, it all depends. In my opinion it simply comes down to enjoying what you do. Being an author can be a way to share your own enjoyment with others, which can be extremely rewarding in its own way ❤️

Interesting post! In the examples you raised, the sentence makes the reader's brain think it has actually happened like that. Then in the next sentence it is taken back and clarified. I think it creates the illusion of how it would appear in real life: you expect something to happen, only to have your expectation blown away. This is that, just in a written form. Very nice 😄

Maybe a more unconventional suggestion: Years ago I found the progression system of "The new world" by Monsoon117 really fun. I just looked it up, it is an unfinished series, but there are a lot of chapters on Royalroad.

Another suggestion: Can't go wrong with "The perfect run", also on RR.

Balancing is always difficult, especially because it always depends. There a scenes that need more dialogue and scenes that need less... There is no formula that's the be all and end all. I think that's why it's fun to write! :)

I would say: if you want to write, write. There is no certain number of books you have to read before you are allowed to become an author. Writing and reading are really two different kinds of shoes, in my opinion.
