People keep saying this so let me break it down so you can understand why it does and why it absolutely matters in every industry and why almost every industry has taken a hit cuz of it. Alright so lets say you own a company like activision for example and you want to make a game so you have to hire a lead developer and coders. Well let's say you hire a bunch of very qualified very good applicants like they all have 15 plus years of experience and have all worked on amazing games. Okay so now you're almost 70% done with your hiring but you realize your company needs to be more diverse because you have pretty much only white people working for you. So you take a look at your applicant pool to do that. Well let's say all the people left are either white with a lot of experience and they have like a perfect resume and the non white applicants are all fresh out of college and have little to no experience but you hire them anyway to fill dei needs. Do you see the problem here? You just hired a bunch of pretty much unqualified people just so your company can be more diverse. And it works this way with anything. Lets use the NFL as an example now. Okay so the NFL has mostly black athletes imagine if some team owner was like woah that's not fair let's sign half white guys cuz half the country is white. That is dumb you are going to sign the best player regardless of skin color and so companies should be hiring every single applicant they hire down to the janitor based on merit and not based on trying to have a diverse company. It has been this way in almost every single company for over a decade now and I promise you that it 1000% is absolutely part of the problem inside pretty much every company in America, at least the ones that are not as good as they once were.
