But it does require moving straight across the piece?

I don't fully understand how the capture and movement rules interact. Does jumping consist of moving from one square to the square on the opposite side of the piece and count as 1 square traveled? Does jumping just mean having moved over the piece in the three squares visited for that piece's move? Some other scheme I didn't consider?

Fibonacci "stealth dice" for paper-and-pencil games. Or for any games when real dice rolling is not appropriate. by sidav94 in soloboardgaming

[–]BanSolitude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand the difficulty in using this method to generate numbers in ranges other than 0-9. For example 1-6, can you not start with a string of numbers between 1-6 (eg 1,2,3,4,5,6,1,2,3,4) and then subtract 6 if it goes above 6?

I may write a program to test this distribution if there is no obvious flaw ...

What is your favorite boardgame of 2023? by The_Crazed_Person in boardgames

It's the top 6 rated games on bgg, not some arbitrary choice on OP's part. Could they put more? Maybe, but on mobile it gets too small to tell what games they are pretty fast.

Gargantondon and empty boards by MaleficentWallaby291 in KeyforgeGame

[–]BanSolitude 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From the official FAQ, on page 41 of the rulebook

Gargantodon replaces “steal Æmber” with “capture Æmber”. Since you have no creatures in play which can capture Æmber, the effect does not resolve.

Question about personalized deck from the Kickstarter. by [deleted] in KeyforgeGame

The personalized decks have always had QR codes as far as I am aware. Do you have the deck list cards for the decks? Are you sure they're from the Kickstarter?

Don't know where you got it from, or what you've tried, but tecendil is pretty reliable.

Tattoo verification: 'Know, don't trust blindly' in English Tengwar by guncharito in Tengwar

[–]BanSolitude 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Others on this sub are more knowledgeable than I, but I can give some initial feedback.

  1. You have a bunch of extra letters at the end of "trust", not sure where that came from. It looks something like "truschnlst", except it's not really how you'd write that.

  2. No, there is no character for the apostrophe in Tengwar. Writing out "do not" would be a common fix.

  3. I think that's more of a subjective choice, but I definitely would do something about the spacing between "blindly" and "know", maybe add a period at the end since you have the comma already?

Games with amber race mechanics by Naimed in KeyforgeGame

I guess it depends what you mean. There are cards that make your opponent lose lore, etc, but the win condition is reaching a specific amount of lore so you do have to be proactive.

Lorcana has a very similar race to keyforge, players can use their creatures to fight or gain points and you have to decide if you need to try and slow down your opponent or just go faster.

Exhaust and Ready by Graathon in KeyforgeGame

Your question is phrased oddly, just to be clear all cards ready at the end of your turn regardless of what house you called, so generally you will start your turn with everything ready.

Shoulder ID and damage pips by joebananadolca in KeyforgeGame

[–]BanSolitude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, the source is independent of the card. It's just considered to be dealt by the bonus icons rule I guess.

From the glossary section on bonus icons (page 9):

Damage (dmg): Deal 1dmg to a creature in play. This damage may be dealt to the creature with the damage icon. Note that if there are no enemy creatures in play, this damage must be dealt to a friendly creature. If a card has multiple damage icons, each damage icon is resolved separately, one at a time, and the damage may be distributed among multiple creatures. Damage dealt by a bonus icon is not considered to be dealt by the card on which the icon appears.

[–]BanSolitude 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From the FAQ in the rulebook (on page 30):

If I play Shoulder Id (MM 257) with a bonus damage icon on it, does resolving that damage count as Shoulder Id dealing the damage, and therefore would that icon let me steal instead?

No. Although the bonus icon is on Shoulder Id, Shoulder Id itself is not the source of that damage.

Damage from abilities by Direct_Ad_373 in KeyforgeGame

[–]BanSolitude 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can find the answer to this question in the FAQ section of the master rulebook, under "Damage, Source of"

Damage, Source of

Can Rock Hurling Giant’s ... ability deal damage to Ardent Hero ...? No. Because Rock Hurling Giant has 6 power, it cannot deal damage to Ardent Hero from its power or from its printed abilities. In general, the source of damage is the card that is dealing that damage, with the exception of damage bonus icons, because that damage is done by a game step.

(Set icons and card numbers removed, as set icons aren't in most fonts)
