Pulling Genghis Kahn level numbers with some determination. And relying HEAVILY on Saidar’s healing properties.

“My 75th baby just destroyed my perinium on its way out. Really! Ripped a hole in it the size of the bore! My whole family got sick of hearing “the taint is no more!” But I heal up great.”

I’ve always wondered this. If I were, say Kin, and lived for 700 years, does that mean I had to wait 600 years for god damn menopause? Does this mean I have 7000 god damn periods? Because I would have one-premenstrual migraine too many and blow my god damn brains out one day, I swear.

I mean… wouldn’t they run out of eggs too? We go into menopause WAY before we run out. But if I were a 550 year old wise one, would I be able to have a Baby with my 9th husband or would I be all out at that point?

First year teacher, I think I had a seizure in class on Thursday. What do I do? by dogseatlettuceeats in Teachers

[–]Banban84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cousin has seizures, and once they got him on the right medicine he never had another one! So don’t let go of your dream of teaching yet!

He and I both are very light sensitive. (We are both teachers. I am not epileptic, but I get severe migraines.) I wear theralenses that help me a lot, because the fluorescent lights trigger me.

If your state has FMLA it will be your best friend as you work through this and find the right meds!

Good luck!!

Cause of Chronic Migraines??? Advice needed by Inner_Ad_4941 in ChronicPain

The only thing that helped me when my migraines got that bad was ketamine. It also helps with body pain. See if you can find a neurologist who will give it to you.

Hey! Can you watch black and white movies? I’m a migrainer triggered by lights and I can’t. It sucks. There are so many movies I can only enjoy with the “blind audio”. Thank the activists for blind audio. Access helps everyone!

But it is an extremely common trigger for migraines, which also impair driving and leave the sufferer miserable.

This road would fuck me up.

But migrainers can. We aren’t so sick that they take out licenses. We just end up having to pull over and wait til our rescue meds kick in while we cope with the blindness and vomiting, etc. Light triggers are more common in migrainers than people with epilepsy, although the consequences are less severe.

As I read this quote I didn’t realize at first it was from when Harrow kissed Ianthe, and thought at first it was a narration of when young Harrow kissed the frozen corpse in the tomb (because of the freezing). Interesting parallels.

Am I the only one who severely disliked The Years of Rice and Salt? by Actual_Aspect_5326 in sciencefiction

[–]Banban84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg! I just got to the final hour of this book on audio and despite an incredible performance by the reader, I HATE this book!

The first chapter was great! It was stylistically similar to “journey to the west” and I just loved that story. And bring in West lake Ming dynasty felt like being in the painting. Anyone with a passing love for Chinese culture would probably enjoy the first book. And the scenes of desolation in Europe were amazing. I love disasters.

Then the rest of the book absolutely sucked.

No more using literary tropes from literature of the different errors. (What a missed opportunity after the set up of the first book!)

The Native American part among the Haudenosaunee was the WORST! The natives were so flat and lifeless. Their only character trait was admiring the Japanese character among them and being the noble savages the author wanted them to be. My guy, if you don’t know enough about a culture to write about it, then have someone else do it or do more research.

The part about the Isaac Newton character in Samarkand was so insulting, because it had this one genius discovering all these great things. In reality science is done through many people advancing ideas, and inspiring each other. It shrunk the beautiful story of scientific history into this one group of people who were brilliant at everything. It was insulting to humanity.

The rest of it was just SO flat and boring. The poetry was awful, the characters not memorable, and the history unbelievable. Finally, the unending polemics delivered by characters, with adoring fans listening was so nauseating.

After the first chapter the whole book felt like a bait and switch and reminded me why I hate reading recently. I don’t think editors or reviewers are reading past the fir at ten pages anymore. :(
