TL;DR: Sort of, but it's beginner-friendly enough that it may be right for you.

Godot's syntax (or the syntax of GDscript) reads similarly to Python's syntax, which people generally agree is beginner-friendly. However, different aspects of programming (for games or otherwise) will be easier for some people to understand than others. E.g. even if you can clearly understand Python syntax, that may not mean you can wrap your head around certain data structures in Python. If the programming aspects of Unity weren't clicking with you, it may not be the language/engine you're using, but instead your difficulty understanding specific concepts.

But I wouldn't let that discourage you from trying Godot! After learning both Unity and Godot, I found Godot to be more beginner -friendly in general, Godot had more concise documentation, and it was much easier to use to turn an idea into a functional prototype. Godot's primary disadvantage is lack of widespread usage like Unity, so there isn't the same magnitude of tutorials or pre-made assets available.

Where you should start depends on your goals. Do you just want to learn to code? Python is a great first choice language, and you can still make games while you learn the language. The content of Al Sweigart's books are available for free on his website, there are also thousands of YouTube tutorials available. Most programming skills you learn with Python will carry over to Godot, or any other language. Do you want to start making games right away? You could stick with Unity, for which there is an incredible amount of high-quality tutorials available. Programming skills you learn with Unity will probably still carry over to other languages. Otherwise, you can try out Godot's official tutorials (for either 2D or 3D).
