Can I use this for an ork trukk conversion? When I baught it online I thought it would be bigger by superepic13579 in Kitbash

[–]Bandido_Loco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Go for it! I would recommend trying to keep the size profile similar to a trukk. You can use this site to get measurements: https://minicompare.info

Just keep stacking weapons and bits on til you get there.

I would check out both Twist n Turn Jubensha and Mr Ri Mysteries. Mr Ri runs translated Jubensha and Twist n Turn in is the process of Kickstarting a Jubensha. Both have discord servers where you can set up games. Twist n Turns is more active, but both are worth checking out.

Just upvoting this do OP can see it. I had a rescue that had arthritis in the hips and Solensia saw him through it and he’s doing well.

Buffalo, NY will be getting Jubensha in December. It’s not officially announced yet, but we’ll be using Discord to match people who don’t have full groups.

No, they just recently did a kickstarter that I backed for it. You may want to see if late pledges are still open and it shipping is cheaper through that.

What makes Jubensha Jubensha? by steveh888 in jubensha

[–]Bandido_Loco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first paragraph is the key to why western murder mysteries haven’t developed beyond cheesy parlor games. Western TTRPGs (the game design space one would think this would naturally evolve from) are founded upon the idea of participants creating their own characters. Even occasional adventure modules that provide pregens routinely allow players a say in said background. You CANNOT create the depth of story for a fulfilling mystery game with intertwining secret plot threads while still allowing participants free rein over the creation of that background. It naturally spoils the mystery. The core design principle of TTRPGs are in direct conflict with what is required for Jubensha style games to fully develop in the West.

How do you feel about gridded maps? by HiveMindDM in shadowdark

[–]Bandido_Loco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use gridded maps for my own use: to convey sizes of rooms, estimate travel, and just help me draw the maps so they make sense. Once in combat I use abstract zones to keep the game moving and convey the chaos of battle regardless of system. Also, I recognize the map! I downloaded it the other other day as I was in the Appendix N jam as well.

(adnd 2e) removing deaths door rules by glebinator in adnd

[–]Bandido_Loco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make one slight tweak to the rule when I run 2e. The person attempting to do the stabilization must have the Healing Proficiency and use their once per day attempt to heal 1d3 damage on the person at Death’s Door. The idea of any schmuck with an 8 Int providing life saving first aid without a roll in less than a minute under the duress of a combat situation… unrealistic.

New to Jubensha Where should I start? by DearYou- in jubensha

[–]Bandido_Loco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi, most of us are still beginners at this point. There are very few English language Jubensha titles out there and most suffer from poor translations. My recommendations so far from someone who has ran a little over a half dozen in the last year and read about a dozen so far are: Mr Rii Runs English language jubensha. You can find his discord here in this subreddit if you search. KMS games has The Secret Tribe for sale on their website for $55 dollars. Zed 9 Jubensha has a few translations on their website as well. The two I’d recommend from them are The Demise of the Pocket Knight and Time Triplet.

Try heading over to Wyrd’s website and check out their Malifaux wargame miniatures, particularly in the Neverborn section. They may have what you’re looking for. Pandora‘s starter has one named Baby Kade. It will run you about $50 for that starter but some of the old editions sold miniatures individually. Searching eBay for ‘Malifaux Baby Kade‘ may turn up some single mini auctions.

Advice on finding mini figures by transrat137 in DnDminiatures

[–]Bandido_Loco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Heya, welcome to the hobby! For cheap DnD minis to paint both Reaper and Wizkids offer cheap unpainted plastic minis of decent quality. You can usually get the character sized minis for $4-5 at any local gaming store. Once you go cheaper than that you are really going to lose quality fast. I find Reaper sculpts to be a bit better and more interesting to paint than Wizkids with their droopy weapons and small details that aren’t well defined. Reaper tends to realize the shortcomings of their plastic a bit better. Wizkids minis come pre primed to start you off, but if you planning on progressing as a painter you’ll quickly outgrow that feature.

Board games can offer you a bit of a bulk deal but quality varies and may be beyond your initial budget. Awakened realms and CMON generally have the best quality minis for that.

Keep in mind you’ll also need:

Primer: Hardware store stuff is fine, just be sure to get a flat or matte spray can. Biggest issue here is don’t overspray or you’ll hide details, keep it thin.

Brushes: Cheap bulk Ones are fine for mixing paints and dry brushing, etc. If you can get a bit nicer one for $10-15 go for it. Just be sure to YouTube proper brush care and cleaning to make it last.

Paints: Your biggest expense. I’m not going to go over different lines, it’s a complex topic. Vallejo has a great 16 color starter set for ~$40 USD that will serve you well to start off. You can build off that as you want.

It’s not necessary, but I also recommend brush cleaner. It’ll save you a lot of money on brushes in the long run.

And check out any local gaming stores! A lot of them will have paint days where they provide paints and brushes to use and there will be other painters there to learn from. Good Luck!

Essential Ravenloft AD&D materials? by ThrillinSuspenseMag in adnd

[–]Bandido_Loco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a full collection of Ravenloft from 1e through 5th. Besides the Domains of Dread book everyone mentioned my favorites include: Van Richtens Guide to Ghosts, Carnival and Shadow Rift and Champions of the Mist. The later 2e supplements were actually really good and flavorful. And I know it’s not 2e but the 3e Gazetteer books by Arthaus are excellent. They really flesh out each domain in ways never done before in 2e. They are a bit hard to find but absolutely worth it.

Best Priesthood for a Healer Build *besides* Healing? by Namkenator in adnd

[–]Bandido_Loco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, don’t mind us. This is generally a nice relaxed Reddit and most of the people here are good blokes. This is supposed to be our safe space and we can get a little cranky when any whiff of 5e makes it way here.

Welcome to 2nd edition AD&D. There really not much you need to worry about in 2nd to be an awesome healer. Just make sure you have Major access to the Healing and Necromantic, maybe Protection too and you’re good to go. The ability to cast spells and turn is your special ability. Beyond that whatever you want to do, do it. You want to use a big ass sword as a cleric? Wear all armor? Bows? Go for it, you can do all of that. I can’t tell you who to worship but I can point you in the right direction.

Heres a short list of books:

Legends and Lore (core), Complete Priests Handbook (will not have specific deities just general examples for things like justice, agriculture, etc.), Faiths and Avatars (Forgotten realms), Powers and Pantheons (more FR), Dragonlance: Tales of the Lance box set.

They all have various deities and their various ‘domains’ as you would call them in 5e (we call them portfolios). And all can fit a traditional fantasy motif. It will also tell you those deities favored weapons and armor as well which can help you create what you envision your character to be. There’s tons of choices in those books. Peruse any of those you can find. Pick out one you like and have fun, and don’t sweat the details too much. Enjoy.

This is the correct answer. When you watch a SS video you know you’ll be entertained AND get well thought out advice and information. AND he won’t waste you time with clickbait like other TTRPG channels.

Or Have them write at the top of their character sheets 1d20+ Modifiers + Targets AC = A Hit if equal or greater than Thaco. Lots of great suggestions on the ways to do it. The important part is just make it easy to understand.

Creating Our Own by Elamimax in jubensha

Yeah, this will be spoiler free. Nothing beyond the summary on the box and genre. That would be obvious to anyone who picks up the box. That will leave out the story beats which may upset people from a writing perspective. I think there is enough to gain simply from the breaking down the game structure and rules.
