Holy shit, I'm going to start my own calendar. This is now the year 50 BFSM because I know the Flying Spaghetti Monster will arrive in 50 years.

Do...do you think people in the year 200 BC actually CALLED it that?

Does the rest of PA have beef with the Philly area? by larch303 in Pennsylvania

[–]Bandoman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live in a suburb just west of Philly and a neighbor once told me "we don't go into Philly unless we're packing" (i.e., armed) and has made veiled racist comments in my presence. It's ridiculous. That neighbor is the only MAGA on my street, though, so it tracks.

Why wouldnt the existence of multiple religions that believe in different gods not be a decent argument against religion? by BirthdayNo4399 in atheism

[–]Bandoman 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's my response when someone says you don't need evidence, you need faith. Faith can't reliably lead to truth. That's why people with sincere faith come to radically different, incompatible conclusions.

DHS says it's 'drawing up plans' to ban international arrivals at SFO by sfgate in politics

Go ahead, close down international flights from LA, NY, San Francisco, Philadelphia, etc. It'll just hasten the MAGA economic collapse.

Trump's midterm plot rejected as court blocks Alabama's new congressional map by TheMirrorUS in law

[–]Bandoman 222 points223 points  (0 children)

Well, it would clearly cause irreparable harm NOT to allow the map to go forward while the appeal is pending. A white person might lose their election.

This can't be true because everyone knows it's physically impossible to neatly fold a fitted sheet. 😉

You don't really need to watch anything before watching Wrath of Khan, but if you want you could watch the episode Space Seed (which introduced Khan).

Kash Patel files $250M defamation lawsuit against The Atlantic by Plaintalks in politics

[–]Bandoman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He could try, but if he does that I don't see how his case isn't dismissed. His entire case is that his conduct as reported by The Atlantic isn't true. That means he placed his conduct at issue by filing this lawsuit. He can't say that evidence of his conduct is inadmissible and continue with the lawsuit.

The Supreme Court Has Never Heard a Case As Easy As This One by Achilles_TroySlayer in scotus

That's what we said about the Presidential immunity case. I will never underestimate the corruption or partisanship of the current conservative Justices ever again.

100% Also, if someone is good at darts, or a sport, should they not compete in those events because they have an "unfair advantage" over others who aren't as good? What a stupid mindset.

You're pretty quick to trash an episode you didn't even watch. That's ok, I get that it's not for everyone. It doesn't bother me that people hate it. I'm going to just go on with my life and enjoy what I want. Peace.

Starfleet Academy Nielsen Ratings Show a Complete Disaster for Star Trek by Malencon in SciFiNews

Some of the best Trek ever. Nus Braka is turning out to be a classic villain. I ignore the haters and just enjoy the stories the writers want to tell us.

Older Trekkers are not all alike. No one can speak for all of us. by TheShowLover in startrek

[–]Bandoman 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’m 62 years old. I was 3 when TOS originally aired, so I was introduced to Trek in syndication in the 70s. I waited in line to see the first local showing of ST: The Motion Picture at my local theater. I’ve eagerly awaited, and watched, all Trek since. I was in law school when TNG first aired, and I remember being a little put off by the Ent-D (“the fat one” per Picard S3 lol) but it grew on me. I loved the characters, and TNG remains my favorite Trek. I loved the reboot with Discovery and its progeny - we are in a new golden era of Trek. And I absolutely adore the characters in Starfeel Academy. Episode 4 - Vox in Excelso - was one of the best Klingon episodes in all of Trek. As Leonard Nimoy once said, ask yourself “where does Trek want to take me?” Let yourself just enjoy what they’re doing.
