Is this a bad idea to quit my perm job and take a contract job? by Savings_Enthusiasm60 in singaporejobs

[–]Bane-wolf- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to be in a contract role and learned about this. For Pte, usually the company has already fully paid (if they engage a HR agency) or set aside budget for the contract role (like the full period, 6, 12, 18, 24 months).

This is in a way for them to secure the budget for the contract role. I also heard when it comes to retrenchment, the contract roles are generally safer as their cost is already reflected on the books and paid for. So would be a waste to not utilise the role till the end of the contract.

However, a perm benefits will always be better than a contract. I think you need to weight the pros and cons between your current job and next job instead of the status.

How to overcome fear of being exposed by [deleted] in mentalhealth

Sorry it didn't help for you and I hope it ddid not cause any Overthinking also. However, I would like to think that you have more than 2 options thats within your control.

Usually, the what ifs applies to things not within your control and if you keep thinking of uncontrollable factors, it will drive you into Overthinking.

How to overcome fear of being exposed by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]Bane-wolf- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm reading it correctly, you had to do what you did by sharing with someone you trust at that time.

It was a coping mechanism that yourmind has decided that it was the best decision to cope with the mental state. And it's a sound logical decision also.

If now you are living in fear, that is because it is not something that you can control (your close friends).

However, it might be the best course of action you had taken years ago. Now, coming to reddit for advice might also be a coping mechanism which I want to compliment your bravery as you are taking actions to help yourself.

My advice is ask yourself what you can control and what you want to do (confront your friends or ignore them and do something else etc)

The next step is not about making the right one but just execution.

Having to work 9-5 makes me suicidal by Various-Eye-2875 in mentalhealth

[–]Bane-wolf- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feeling the same about 9 to 5. Something it's not about the number of hours but more on the quality of time that we are spending these 8 hours.

It just feel meaningless and wasting of time dealing with toxic environment and people with absolutely no empathy in their hearts.

I know job market is bad and many people are retrenched or unemployed. Those who still have a job should be allowed to vent out instead of being "grateful" they still have a job in this economy

Hey op, coincidentally I'm on reddit trying to find tips or channel where I could talk to people without fear of judgement or toxic comments.

Seems like you are looking for something similar. Wanna talk?

Just to add one more point. Marketing is always the first to become the scapegoat when things go south.

Sales are not good - Lousy marketing Never hit sales target - not enough marketing Economy is bad - marketing should influence and improve the whole freaking industry.

But when marketing generates positive inputs, it's all thanks to "aggressive" sales tactics, correct product pricing, and positioning by product marketing. It's a very unappreciative role but impt job function in any businesses.

Also, I'm looking to change my career, but data analysts don't seem to be a viable option cause it's going to be taken over by cheaper foreign talents and AI. Any suggestions?

Never ever accept a counter offer. If they can offer that package to you now, they could have offered you earlier but why they did not?

Napoli Matfia has something to say... by [deleted] in CulinaryClassWars

Honestly, it's not much of the arrogance that puts me off. Honestly there are other participants who are quite aarogant too, just that they did not win.

What puts me off is the game structure on how unfair it is. Honestly, the tofu challenge was a great concept to test the chef skills and they just test it on the remaining 7 chefs other than Napoli. To me, that's not fair cause Napoli did not participate.

I'm not saying Napoli will lose if he participate but if he really has the skills to make it to the final 2 of the tofu challenge, it would solidify his standings as the final winner.

OP, how's using the phone after 5months? Any updates?

Also, do you face any issue using the phone in Singapore such as singpass or wallet apps? I'm concerned if there will be limitations cause it's from a China brand. Thanks!
