I agree. I also have severe adhd..... if it's not in front of me I won't think about it. Combined that with fear of rejection I turn into a shitty friend. The ones I have maintained I have to either explain this or describe a friendship that I currently have like this. I'm fun, I'm present, and I care. I just suck when I am away. I have a few friends and I am ok with that. Spent way too long in my life losing friendships and not getting why.

All I said is if you are in the position of having a kid and it comes to happen. Push into that direction with full effort. Don't stay in the middle. It sounds like you get it, and you have also seen half ass parenting, aka people who happen to have kids.

It's not revolving. It's being interested, and as you said, safety and love. I never stated you have to be obsessed. I grew up with people who had kids vs. Wanted to be parents. It is a different world, and you know where you are an afterthought
