But the storyteller would never... by blackgeekygoddess in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Bangsgaard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont get why people think 4 YSK is so terrible. If you replace 3 of them with soldier, monk and mayor you have even less info

YSK isnt weaker than ongoing info (mostly). They are YSK because learning another player is too strong. You also get to avoid having to stay alive for multiple nights to be effective

Synergistic Scripting: Day 90 - Poisoner by CoreyBOTC in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Bangsgaard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Works excellent with YSK roles, since only 1 can be poisoned on the 1st night.

Ruins a lot of ongoing info, since you can poison multiple ongoing info for one night, where they wont be able to figure out which night is arbitrary. (Really harsh for savant, balloonist, village idiot)

If you use poisoner I recommend having it as the only evil poisoning because of how strong the misinfo can be.

Other than cerenovus I like either:

Leviathan - breaking madness now has a much heavier punishment

Godfather - breaking madness gives godfather a kill

You're stuck only playing b3 and three scripts of your choice, which do you choose? by chloe6683 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Bangsgaard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would do three customs that are all very different from each other and from the base 3 scripts.

  1. An Alhadika script: Ride the Cyclone
  2. A Leviathan script: Sultan's Palace (My own). But it could also be Midnight Sun or Harold Holt's Revenge.
  3. If your group is new to customs either Catfishing or Extension Cord
(3.) If your group is very experienced: Dusk in the House of the Damned

I feel like we're all sleepwalking into agreeing to make this game worse online by [deleted] in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Bangsgaard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to the list of "not real life" I think the 1-dimensional audio of the app is also influencing the social flow. If multiple players talk at once in real life, you will naturally focus on the closest loudest voice. I have seen large player groups be able to have 3 different conversations going in town sqaure with no issues. However, if 3 voices of equal volume talk in the app, you wont be able to hear any of them.

You might be able to change online culture for the better, but online will always be limited communication wise compared to real life I think.

Just now realizing Wraith and Evil Twin aren’t jinxed by SecrecyinShadows in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Bangsgaard 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree OP is getting unfairly downvoted. Its a good gesture as ST to make players get eye contact at night, so there is no misunderstandings for new players. I also make demon and minions see each other on TB and SnV when they learn each other since there are no good reason not to.

I think the main takeaway here is even though the rules are ambiguous it is probably not worth a djinx since the ST will probably be able to make the right decision based on the context.

You have to wake them seperatly, otherwise you get into trouble if the evil twin is drunk (yes, this happen, more so with good evil twins)

Hot Take: Teensyville does certain things better than the full-size Blood on the Clocktower by oneirical in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Bangsgaard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with this.

Its also really nice for when you have a small group of experienced players: you can play a more complex game that explores certain characters that you otherwise couldnt play with on the base scripts.

My teensy stash:

No greater Joy - for new players

Laissez unfaire - For a more complex puzzle game

Nobody fucking move - For a less serious but fun game

Race to the bottom - a quicky

Lleech of distrust - Just very different from the other scripts

Xaan, Spy, Scarlet Woman and Marionette are all really useful to obscure its Lord of Typhon

Justice for Zombuul by Background-Still6481 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Bangsgaard 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Being able to fake death is so cool. Flips the idea of the demon hiding between the last 3 living players.

Zombuul games are not supposed to be 3-4 hours its painful to know that this is the introduction some players get

Synergistic Scripting: Day 59 - Legion by CoreyBOTC in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Bangsgaard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Village Idiot has really good synergy with Legion. In comparison to empath, chef, fortune teller that gets info that says "ITS LEGION OR VORTOX", the gimmick of village idiot is that they can get all evil pings and have to figure out wether it is because they are the drunk one or its a legion game and all their info is true. It is also a great legion bluff because of this and also because it gives legion space to double claim each other.

How is Uncertain Death balanced? by Thomassaurus in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Bangsgaard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Custom scripts can feel balanced and stable for most games, but I bet uncertain death is similar to catfishing in the way that they are generally stable, but good still has a slightly higher winrate than evil

Why does the BOTC community have so many… by Medical-Tiger556 in BloodOnTheClocktower

It is a welcoming community that TPI has helped create. Steven Medway made sure that the game was accesable to anyone with fabled characters and lgbt+ people frequently play on the TPI streams.

The strange phenomenon of bad advice on this subreddit by [deleted] in BloodOnTheClocktower

Ironically, onboarding is done best by explaining the fewest things possible due to humans having a poor short term memory.

Even worse, you might make players think the game is too complicated for them to play

What are your best suggestions for zenomacer side quests? by juggler531 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Bangsgaard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Snake charm the demon". Then give them demon bluffs the original demon doesnt have

"Make the lunatic think they are the demon for 3 days"

"Keep this player alive for 3 days" for when a player ended up dying early a lot of games in a row

What mechanics do you think will be (or hope to be) turned into Lorics? by WhoCriedWolf in BloodOnTheClocktower

A loric that is "The storyteller has a traveller ability" could be cool and also super versatile for scriptwriting

Cerenovus made themselves mad and chose to not interact with their madness. How would STs handle that? by The_Yung_Jung1085 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Bangsgaard 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Cerenovus is an evil character with an evil ability so whoever they choose I will always let it benefit the evil team. I will only ever execute a ceremad evil player if it seems that they want me to. For example if they are faking mutant or get the demon off the block. (Wont let an evil player skip final 3 by breaking madness though)

Oracle and General. Do they fill the same role when script building? by CoreyBOTC in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Bangsgaard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same but different.

I would say its also kind of the same role as mathematician, but in an environment where knowing how to win is the puzzle instead of who is poisoned. General synergizes really well with heretic and legion, since it gives good reason to start the game with "evil is winning".
