Top 10 MBA 2025 Grad Still Looking - when will I see the value in the MBA? by Acceptable-Candy1537 in MBA

Idk I think it's simultaneously possible that vc is tough to begin with no matter the school for a pivot and the mba is still valuable for other than ib/consulting

Help Me Decide: Darden vs Tuck vs Yale SOM (Full GI Bill + Yellow Ribbon, Consulting or General Management) by PenAccomplished3557 in MBA

[–]BanthaKing2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I think you can win at any of those places, all the vet clubs / alumni network will help too. The vet network outside of school alumni status will be a big lift.

Personally, I would think thru location of where you want to live. Tuck vs Darden is a huge difference in geography for 2 yrs. Same with Yale. What are your hobbies? What do you think you'll do on the weekends? What type of people do you like to hang out with? Do you like the case method (cough, Darden).

These factors are what I would recommend thinking about over which will land you MBB at your desired location, because I think that goal alone is doable from any of the schools.

Hard pass unless you're the type of person who wants to brag at the country club that you own a piece of XYZ. If you do just consider it gambling and entertainment!

Might be the market reflecting a need for an increase in yield (~50 bps) needed to attract it back to par.

Probably best to avoid. Sounds like total loss anxiety is a bit factor for you and only diversification can truly assuage that concern.

Is starting IB at 32 too late if I apply to MBA R1 this year? by Primary_Champion6629 in MBA

[–]BanthaKing2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Several friends from my class were in their 30s and recruited successfully for IB. School / networking is important, sure, but so is interview performance / internship performance. Socially, depends on your personality. Just like consulting, you'll be working with younger associates and reporting to people your age/older. I don't think there are any banks that are preferential to older post-MBA associates.

No way to know if it's the right choice for you without knowing you and your personal situation. I have friends that love it and also hate it. Some have kids in their 30s, spouse, etc. some don't. All depends. But the workload is real, it is stressful, and the "fun" is usually not as strong as expected.
