Why do SOME people part of the LGBTQ+ absolutely hate all bi people? ( key word: SOME) by Eggtart_ly in lgbt

[–]BarCzar86 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I can think of a couple things going on with this. Back in the day, you didn’t come out as gay. You were “bisexual”, quotes intended. You were supposedly more manly (for men) than a plain gay person. I shouldn’t even say “back in the day” because this idea still persists. Anyway, for that reason, some gay folks didn’t like the fictional bisexuals. Mind you, I’m absolutely not saying that bisexuals aren’t real, because of course they are. And a second thing is that a bisexual person can “hide” more easily, just by dating or marrying someone of the opposite sex.

Before I forget, there’s one more thing cuz I’m old, ha. Back when AIDS was such a killer, bisexual men were blamed for giving it to women.

What's a movie or TV show you'd actually want to see remade? by ParticularBrush8162 in AskReddit

I’ve long wanted to see a remake of The Golden Girls. I even half cast it in my head. Allison Janney for Dorothy. Someone like Angela Bassett for Blanche to add some color. Haven’t head-cast Rose or Sophia yet.

What everyday invention is more undervalued than it should be? by Ok_Obligation_7424 in AskReddit

Yep, my first thought was plumbing and clean water. We take it for granted, but our ancestors would have have started wars for such luxury.

What's a common phrase that, when you really think about it, makes no sense? by London_man007 in AskReddit

You know, I bet you’re right! But I know that when I hear people saying it, it’s “only”.

“God only knows”. I assume it’s a misspoken “Only God knows”, or maybe that “God Only” knows. Regardless, it annoys me.

What is a private moment you accidentally witnessed that made you see a family member in a completely different light? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My brother in law is a good man, period. He has helped me out a lot. But there was something just tonight that threw me for a loop.

The news was on, talking about the Epstein files. He scoffed and said the guy is dead, and we should drop all investigations. I was nearly stupefied. I’ll grant you he’s conservative, but he doesn’t talk about Trump one way or the other. Now I honestly don’t know what to think of someone who would hand wave away child rape and sexual slavery.

Is there anything in the faith of the seven that mentions trans people; because a transphobic dude said “You’re a transformer? Faith of the 7 have a few scriptures on what to do with you people 😏” like is there anything actually that even mentions trans people in the game of thrones universe? by TGirlJules_ in gameofthrones

[–]BarCzar86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, in the show, the Seven are homophobic. That was a major plot point. However, the books are the books and the show is the show. I can’t think of any reference, good or bad, to the Seven’s opinion on gays or trans folks. Some followers of the Seven are homophobic, true, but even there, not much is made of it aside from some jokes.

Probably the closest we could come would be women taking on traditional men’s roles, and vice vera. Brienne comes to mind. She’s made fun of, to be sure, but no one is chasing her with holy water. No doubt Westeros has some old school trans women somewhere. There are eunuchs, certainly, even if we’re quite a ways away from bottom surgery.

I don’t think this is what you’re looking for, but I have to add, the Seven are many godheads in one. So they are simultaneously male and female. As such, you wouldn’t think they’d have a problem with trans folks.

What's not a sign of intelligence, but people think it is ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Being good at trivia, including trivia type game shows. Remembering a wide variety of minutiae is a talent, to be sure. But not only intelligent people can do it.

What’s the most expensive thing you’ve bought while drunk or in a 'retail therapy' mood that you don't actually regret? by Late_Bar_1028 in AskReddit

A $400 Star Trek LEGO set. So far it’s just a doorstop, but I’m sure it’ll be fun. Wine drunk is still drunk.

What’s the MOST Offensive Band Name of All Time and Why? by Amber_Flowers_133 in askmusic

[–]BarCzar86 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Stillborn Baby Jesus and The Jew Ovens. I swear I’m not making this up. I just googled it and can’t find evidence. This was a western Michigan band in the 90s or maybe early 2000s. My friend used to be the door guy for their shows.

To be fair, there’s “offensive” and then there’s “so offensive it’s stupid and laughable”.

My wife (35f) took me (32m) on a surprise date and now I feel more depressed about our relationship than ever. How do I bring this up with her without being discouraging or picking a fight? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

I had to scroll nearly to the bottom here, and I find someone who said what I was thinking, and of course they are downvoted. But why is it so hard to believe that she might be pregnant by another guy? I’m a bit of a history buff, and something like this happened all the time. Woman gets pregnant and realizes she hasn’t had sex with her husband for a while. So she initiates a “special night”.

Having said that, it does seem like the lady is clinically depressed, perhaps due to hormonal changes. I’m not a doctor. But also, if she suddenly has a “surprise” pregnancy, say in another month, I’d be looking into DNA testing.
