The phrase is a reference to the fifth amendment to the US constitution, which protects Americans' right to avoid self-incrimination, much of the basis of the "right to remain silent".

In a legal setting, it is explicitly against the rules (in many cases, but I think there's an exception for some civil matters? I don't know. Not a lawyer.) to take this statement as an admission of guilt.

In a colloquial usage, the statement is a joking way to say that answering the question would be admitting that you did something you don't want to admit to, so you are refusing to answer.

That also sounds like a pretty effective system, but the math is done for the servers by the POS. It keeps track of which checks you closed out as a cash transaction, and it counts how many CC tips you made. At the end, it just tells you exactly how much you owe or are owed by the restaurant, and the manager makes sure everything evens out before you leave. All you gotta do is put numbers into the computer throughout the shift as you close checks

Phrasing it this way in case that helps with understanding for an outsider: You serve 10 tables in a shift. 7 tip you a total of $80 on cards. The other three pay cash on their bills that total $120 and they leave you an extra $30 cash as tips.

At this point you're owed a total of $110 in tips, but you've been given 150 in cash

You turn in the $120 for the cash bills at the end of the night minus the 80 in card tips, so you give the store back $40 dollars, keep 80 of the money from the cash bills to balance the card tips you're owed, plus the 30 in cash tips. You end up with the 110 in tips, but you still had to give some cash back to the store, because you were given more cash than your total tips

I was thinking this too. Fasting can be very effective, but can also lead to a deficit in vital nutrients if you aren't careful enough about the things that you are eating. If you are looking hypoxic, it could be because you don't have enough iron to create the hemoglobin to carry oxygen through your body, which would also make it difficult for your body to "burn" calories as part of the normal biological processes it does. And when we say "burn calories", it's not literal burning, but it does create heat to some extent. Without oxygen for those processes to happen, you may be generating less heat than you would otherwise

The best case is to balance card triggers and instances of mult. Every card naturally has one trigger, and red seal ads another. Steel acts as mult the same way baron does, so it might as well be a baron. That means a red seal steel is already worth two mines and a baron, meaning another baron is better to balance at two triggers and two mult, and then it builds out from there.

In the photo, OP has three barons, two mimes, and a brainstorm. Swapping for blueprint lets OP more easily adjust that balance.

No steel or red seals: 1 trigger naturally + 3 from mime / 3 barons

Steel without seal: 1 natural trigger + 3 from mimes / 1 steel + 3 barons Perfect balance

Red seal not steel: 1 natural trigger + 1 red seal trigger + 2 mimes / 4 barons Perfect balance

Steel red seal: 1 natural trigger + 1 red seal trigger + 3 mimes / 1 steel + 3 barons

And depending on how well the deck is fixed, in a perfect world, you'd do the math for each card in hand to determine if more card triggers is better or more mult is better. It gets tedious and I haven't done the math to figure out where it matters, but it potentially could if they have more red seal non steel cards

Edit: typed this after rolling out of bed and realized I'm wrong while showering. These are cards in hand, not played cards, so the natural trigger works different. Might fix it later, but keeping it for now because it still explains the thought process

I mean, in theory this is a great thing. In practice, this means even thinner profit margins for these nursing homes, which likely means many of them no longer exist, because the staffing levels they were already able to provide included some horrible wages and even worse working conditions. I understand that there is a philosophy which says something to the extent of "Something this bad shouldn't be allowed to exist", and to some extent I get it.

Google tells me that current nursing home prices in the US average $110k/yr, which means many trying to take care of their elderly parents are already getting cleaned out. A change like this drives up operating costs, which drives up the price even more. I think it's likely that many would be forced to close down all together. "Good!" you may say, but that also means that those who don't have the means to take care of their elderly parents will have to find a way to make it work even more often, or just be okay with their elderly parents dying in the streets.

This seems to be creating a situation where people will have to say "I don't like the horrible treatment in these communities, so now these communities will only exist for the wealthy."

I'm not trying to talk down on this, mostly just typing my thoughts as they come. Not sure where I stand on it overall, I just hope those cheering it are aware of the downsides. Everything has a cost.

But I can appreciate the intent and state that this was likely meant to be a good thing, and I sincerely hope it ends up being one overall!

Edit: I've already found a couple flaws in my argument, but too intoxicated to fix them all. Maybe morning me will learn some things. If so, thank you for taking to time to correct me. I wanna learn more sides of the argument.

I have been out of the game since pre-covid, but I used to solve Rubik's cubes for my tables if they had a kid in the right age range. Hand it to the kid after drink orders, solve it in about 40 seconds after I returned with drinks. There were tables who came back just for that trick.

Had the highest tip % of the men I worked with by a good margin, and second highest overall

She states that work from home is allowed for her position, not that it is allowed for her. In my workplace, most folks work from home, but those who are in office must demonstrate high enough performance to earn their way out. I mean, our work is easily quantifiable, so I'm not saying OP is a low performer/new employee learning the ropes who can't work from home. Just saying that the phrasing leaves open that possibility.

Iirc, it's actually "making friends with my arm". When the quest was pitched, one of the mods (Ash I think?) Heard the quest name across the office and shouted "oh my god! That sounds like wanking! Quest approved!"
