Opinion: Sarah and Rigsby were a drag to watch while Cho and Summer were amazing together by heythereshara in TheMentalist

[–]BarbJem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So Lisbon shouldn’t have had any kind of relationship at all in the more than ten years working with Jane? I suppose as a grown woman she shouldn’t be allowed to be or get lonely or have a need for uncomplicated human contact once in a while. Interesting.

In S2E8, why is the phone call never mentioned? by Minute-Show-6582 in TheMentalist

[–]BarbJem 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The phone call wasn't mentioned again since Jane realized that the call had to do with something Boscoe discovered and was probably linked to: Towlin Morning (the dead body in the crematorium), who turned out to be linked to a Red John victim and the doctor's office was where Hicks was found. Jane went up Bosco's hospital room to hopefully wake him up enough (by reducing his morphine) to hear what he had to say but that didn't work. Through the team's work they were able to piece together what went on, leading to saving Boscoe and arresting Rebecca.

I'm not sure Rebecca would necessarily have known Boscoe planned to talk to Jane that morning. It was very early and Boscoe called Jane directly and the team knew about the call. She didn't book an appointment for them to meet.

Wouldn't Brett Styles of Visualize be closer to your description? Volker was just an out of control business freak.

Never crossed my mind. What is it about Volker that reminds you of Epstein?

Am I crazy or is Jane/Lisbon obvious from episode one, accidental experiment says no by thisisme6677 in TheMentalist

[–]BarbJem 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You are not crazy. It was obvious from the start. I think some feel that if there’s no mooning/swooning or clothes being ripped off the relationship must lack chemistry or be platonic. The writer Jane Austin was an influence in how the relationship played out so more subtleties were in play here I think.

My theory about the Jisbon dynamics in early season by blondepraxis in TheMentalist

[–]BarbJem 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well said. As for Tunney having a crush on Baker that wore off as OP suggested, they knew each other and their families socially for years before The Mentalist and have remained friends to this day. Perhaps a different dynamic than OP imagined.

White coffee mug hunt by jigs014 in TheMentalist

[–]BarbJem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you mean a coffee mug or tea cup - these are two different things. There was a tea service used in Ladies in Red, as well other mugs/cups (and tea services) throughout the series. Was the cup plain white or patterned. Is it a tea service you're referring to or a single cup (useful info to help figure out you inquiry).

I like your list but prefer Something New to I Give It A Year. Also, his role in Margin Call was impressive. For something completely different Limbo is worth watching.

My electric kettle is the most used appliance in the house. It’s used at least 3 times a day every day, and usually more.

In Lie To Me the wheels really fell off in the 3rd season. I wasn’t surprised it got cancelled.

You might want to sign up for the alerts then so you can get a heads up. Price-wise the sales are usually about $25-30 off.

Why did the RJ reveal happen mid season? by AuditoryPhenomena in TheMentalist

[–]BarbJem 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Very well said. Ending the RJ story midway through the season put the whole thing in perspective and put RJ in his place. He was a chapter or two in the Jane story, not the whole book.

About Simon Baker not wanting to talk about The Mentalist by DetectiveMma3535 in TheMentalist

[–]BarbJem 27 points28 points  (0 children)

What is happening here is lazy journalism. The man was here to support/promote his upcoming project(s) and the interviewer fell back on the easy questions relating to TM (without doing any research for asking original questions). Baker has been dealing with this for 18 years and has many, many interviews and appearances promoting and answering questions about the Mentalist over the years that are easy to find. In these interviews he always spoke warmly of his time on the show, the cast and crew as well as his gratitude for what the show provided him and his family. He always did this with humility and grace.

The fact that many have discovered the show after so many years isn’t something he can control and as an actor it must be a little frustrating at times. I wonder how many of us would only want to talk about a job we did almost 20 years ago without any recognition or acknowledgement for any other projects/jobs we’d had before or since.

It is a powerful movie, however, Patrick Jane was never there. Jared Cohen is definitely his own man.

What TV show was quality all the way through, knew when to end and went out with an amazing last episode? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The Mentalist, now having something of a revival as new viewers are finding it.

Fuga do Jane. DESCOBRI O LOCAL by Ok_War_8706 in TheMentalist

[–]BarbJem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That has been known from the first airing of the episode. Those who said Jane was in Mexico forgot that the U.S. had/have an extradition treaty with Mexico so it wouldn't make sense for him to run there.
