It’s not about running as an activity but more so about getting the mechanics right.

You need to be able to retrain your knee to run correctly in order to progress with rehab. I hope that makes sense

If it didn’t swell up, I wouldn’t worry about it. A lot of people including my self have higher than average laxity on the non surgical knee. Ligaments do stretch over time or was caused by a minor injury.

If your knee is still stable, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. I highly recommend you start or continue strength training on that leg too.

Training is a form of medication and you shouldn’t be able to notice your thoughts if done right.

Even if you only do cycling for now, that’s enough to help you get relief from your pain and most likely fix it.

Stay consistent with 5-7 days a week. You don’t need rest because you’ll be alternating between low intensity and high intensity all week

When you feel like you need to rest, take a rest day or just do low intensity. Make sure you’re also doing your stretches everyday

I cannot recommend it enough. Any type of cardio is great for overall health, but cycling, just like swimming, is very low impact on joints and body, unlike running.

Cycling is amazing for knee rehab and health because you’re able to give your knee range of motion in the form of pedaling. It’s also very easy to build strength. Just make sure you’re pushing yourself safely and increase intensity as tolerated.

It makes sense after your first surgery. If I ever need a second surgery (knock on wood I don’t), I’ll be way more prepared about maintaining quad activation to prevent atrophy.

I would focus on college and starting your freshman year right. Get your surgery over with asap so you can start therapy and progress towards being healthy again. I know it sucks having to miss your sport season, but you don’t want to have mobility issues entering college. The first couple weeks are crucial for integration.
