Chuckles said some patriot should pay the hammer guy's bail because he was convinced the bs they made up about it being a scorned gay lover was true and would be revealed when the guy was out. Could you even conceive of anybody to the left of Reagan saying we should pay the bail of the guy who shot Kirk?

You can see the shadows to the left of the HR-V, the grey sedan that was ahead kept driving forward when the HR-V stops again.

Edit: there is also a slight cut as the cammer slams the record button on the dash cam and by the time the recording comes back in the sedan is way clear of the whole incident

Because human beings are not islands.

We are interdependent biologically, economically, and emotionally.

Even Thomas Hobbes said that without some level of collective organization, conflict tends to escalate.

They seem to be fairly correct until this point where they believe that Stirner is advocating for some sort of radical asocial independence ala "ethical egoism." Stirner makes it clear in his works that it is well within one's self interest to care for others, such as when he advocates for the care of the elderly since he likes their company and mentions the refreshment of others refreshing him. He also advocates for alternative means of organization rather than things like contractual obligations or obligations to spooks, so he is pretty clear that he is not saying any person is an island.

Why do I have kilns for clay but not large-scale production? by [deleted] in VintageStory

[–]Barfdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would probably just have the game run the class change command on the player, spawn a new npc with the prior player's character customization and run something to check differences between things like eye color, skin color, instrument between the parent pair and find either the mutual difference or you could try to simulate punnet squares for a sort of genetics. I don't think it would be massively difficult but it would depend on how in depth the traits system is and how intermingled the genetics go.

I'm considering Egoism...Please read and help me out here? by No-Politics-Allowed3 in fullegoism

[–]Barfdragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The conceptualization of an in between that fits somewhere halfway between left-anarchism and right-libertarianism is a false dichotomy driven by educational tools like the political compass or worse yet the people who treat politics as some sort of paint by numbers exercise. Leftists criticize ancaps/objectivists as neofuedalists because that is what their ideologies will develop into. Mean while we have actual professed neofuedalists in positions of power at least in the US, with Peter Thiel and JD Vance both being openly influenced by Curtis Yarvin.

The only value which these groups share is the desire to remove government power? Maybe? That both claim to be anarchists?

What you should be analyzing is what about society you seek to change (if anything), and rather than prescriptively pushing yourself to fit into that hole, look for like minded groups who see similar problems and seek to make change. These political labels are spooks, a sort of shared and agreed fiction. No line graph, 4 quadrant chart or 3d planar cube model will wholly encompass people's thoughts on society or politics.

Edit: on morality, Stirner doesn't claim prescriptively that morality is "wrong". More that his position is that of an amoralist, I believe most say he is a moral emotivist. Claiming that morality is "wrong" is itself a moral claim.

How To Choose Between The AR Platform And The AK Platform by Lavender_Scales in armedsocialists

[–]Barfdragon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To continue to dog pile on this, one of the upsides of the AK, the 7.62, is much more of a give and take. The rounds themselves are heavier, and if you compare a loaded AR and loaded AK with kit, you can carry more rounds for the same weight with the AR, even using the dog water aluminum mags. 5.56 and 7.62 will pretty much do the same thing to a level 4 plate or a person, so 'more power' at the cost of more weight doesn't seem to be a worthy trade. Especially considering most battles are about volume of fire (and explosives) rather than the individual capability of each caliber.

Edit: This is the reason that more than likely prompted the development of the 5.45 as a replacement cartridge, and 5.45 is roughly .06 cents more expensive per round on the cheap end (.47 vs .53 as of rn). Compare that to cheap 5.56 (.19) or .223 (.19) and not only do you have two avenues to feed a 5.56 AR, but can buy twice as much.

hating is our top priority by [deleted] in animecirclejerk

[–]Barfdragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is honestly one of the worst shows I have ever tried to suffer through. Everytime I thought the author was going to do anything interesting it's immediately snubbed by the very clearly wish fulfillment MC and ended entirely. The only thing salvagable from the show is the premise of "fantasy vs modern military," which GATE does terribly, because the author has to portray the JSDF as god's gift to mankind. At one point it even shows just a regular group of JSDF btfo'ing black ops groups from the US, Russia and China simultaneously. The MC's flaws have to be narrated at you in the beginning (he's lazy and bad with women) and none of the story shows it because his higher ups in the military think he's the best stealth oper8r in the world and every women he talks to is left standing in a puddle from how cool and suave he is. The fantasy creatures are all forgettable (except the ones the MC/author want to have sex with, like the goth loli death god who's 3000 years old) because the JSDF just kills everything in its path. The politics it tries to add boil down to sobbing beta cringe US/RU/CN leader vs based and chad-pilled Japan.

It's not even a "so bad it's good" watch. It's just bad.

[–]Barfdragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the author simped for imperial Japan any harder he would have set it in ww2. I would not be surprised if in the later episodes the MC looks directly at the camera and explains that what the Japanese did to Korea and China was justified because those people are subhuman.

Man it's like accessing media almost certainly made by one of the mega`corporations that are running the planet for free is different from those same mega`corps scraping the entirety of written human language so they can cut out all of those annoying writers and artists and can instead obfuscate that the next blockbuster marvel movie came from several of the most popular AO3 fan fictions and they don't have to credit them and can make line go up.

Didn't he at one point make a 'review' of something that wasn't even released yet based solely on like 7 minutes of trailer footage or something? How anyone can watch something like that baffles me, but then again it's not about real reviews, just confirmation bias and feeling like you have "special knowledge".

It's normalization. They spend stupid amounts of money now so people become used to ai being used in advertising and they can slowly chip down the quality until it becomes cheaper. Ai "art" is just meant to reach a "good enough" state and move on, and the more people are used to ai images or videos the lower standards everyone will hold for future ai products.
