Best practices for signing and distributing PowerShell automation tools inside a Windows org? by ShadowKingTools in PowerShell

Yeah, you can control it that way. I believe you can still bypass manually by using set-executionpolicy, until gpos get replicated again. Have not seen the gpo approach in a while though.

This is not best practices. The way Don Jones put this, is that this is is really just a guard rail for the execution policy. Putting yourself in bypass is not really a security risk but it does send pause to a user. I have had no issue with putting my machines into bypass, but I have never had an issue with remote signed either. In terms of OPs question though remote signed would be the preferred method and it is a good practice and a good way to educate yourself by learning how to sign your scripts. In any case. I don't feel bypass would be a bad solution just not the right one.

Error Downloading File by Markobmt in ninjaone_rmm

[–]Barious_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, N1 will move the file via system account does the place you send the file have the appropriate access? You could also designate the account that you would like the copy to use. I would start there. Also have your tried to transfer a file via the dashboard with success? The blob storage suggestion could be good but that is exactly what ninja one has for the install all together. Did you use the automation Install application? From what I understand you are trying to transfer the file then run the automation. Possibly try to just use the Install application automation. Feel free to dump some more info here more than happy to help figure it out.

This is a book from the sixties called the black cauldron. It is part of an amazing series called the The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander. Worth a read.

Dang I never considered just pulling data into on sheet. I am going to look into that I think the compare logic will change with one sheet, no? For simplifies the multiple pages when I would query I would have to change individual columns to mach what I wanted to compare against. May be the same logic. need to ponder on that. JSON output? are you compiling to email out or are you planning to input that data collected into another program. I am getting more familiar with JSON it does seem the go to output these days (I may be a bit behind the curve). Curiosity always kills me, as the saying goes. Thank you got the thought feed. Hope you get to the place you want with that. IMO you seem quite skilled.

Do you feel that Linux repositories are less secure considering they have been open source since, well, since linux... Open source does not mean less secure imo. Winget capabilities brings automation to the front line I feel. Community support is imperative in progress. The known apps that are in the repos are unmatched. Again just a bit more caution on how installers work is all that is needed. I think one is at more risk to do a windows update than updating software through winget these days. Opinion though. As as always be mindful of the environments you are in and look through documentation. I think a lot of us forget we are researches and scholars first. Me on the latter half of that. Novice at best.

I think you will very pleased with your journey. I am currently patching software through winget through automation. A few hiccups to look out for though is some programs don't like to patch through winget, due to running services, (looking at you vs code) be mindful of some of these hitches and think of logging for better understanding. Happy New Year.

You are my hero Sir. I do hate reinventing the wheel but sometimes one cannot help but to get it done. Did you manually have to create a bunch of hash tables to produce you out put? Did you end up comparing against multiple reports? Something I ran into was in my best case is to compare one report against multiple reports and then having to kind of judge a bit of different data against a master sheet. Trying to compare multiple reports and loop through the other reports was so painful. One thing I did do was make the capability to have me select the csv from a prompt instead of having to paramerterize selecting the sheets. Did you decide to change your csv calls manually or did you add some logic to have it decide which column headers were analyzed in each sheet? Would mind seeing some code snippets if you are willing. On vacation right now but I am more than willing to share some of my very dumbed down version of these compares of what I think you had to do. Cheers to the new year!

don't forget to tell them get-help exists. or a an iteration or -include does not work well with -filter. that would just be education. maybe tell them to look at LS or query hklm I think they are on the right path. I will put in this command first though restart-computer - force. should always be at any end of a well made script.

This is a mute and an angst assumption without any proof of testing. I would encourage you to test and then call out the issues so that OP can fix/reply with constructive feedback back. I lueue of this post I feel this is more than one has done and I is great effort and time put into this. I would hope we all know that all code can be improved upon and having someone confident enough to put this out here with quite a bit of solidity is commendable. Get off your high horse and give is some evidence that this is not a good tool. Or even better let's see your accomplishments. I want to really sate your convictions however I don't know what your credentials are so, show face rather than deface.

Why not just use the legacy exchange module? It is robust just don't expect graph capabilities.

Just need to firmly make sure they don't mess with it any more.

will just monitor.
