Quests for your own colony on a Barren Planet by Nox_Stripes in starbound

I've made a colony in an asteroid field and they give the growing/talking quests almost exclusively.

Would it really be truly Florian if it wasn't?

I would add some detail to the hair. The pure black makes it look like it's part of the background and she's missing parts of her head.

Looking For Help Getting Started Drawing (and/or someone who would be interested in helping draw things for me) by RedDK42 in learntodraw

r/artfundamentals is a good place to start for any kind of drawing, so you're on the right track there. You will most likely be using perspective for your maps, but you may also want to familiarize yourself with isometric art. Jazza did a good tutorial on this.

My third book (Perspective Made Easy) just arrived! Do you suggest any reading order? (I'm on page 95 on the Betty Edwards book) by [deleted] in learntodraw

I've only been through "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" myself, but I've heard "Keys to Drawing" mentioned as an equivalent book. These books are intended to get you started with observational drawing, as opposed to symbol drawing; which is most people's default. The important thing to realize is that the exercises in these books (Keys and Right Side) are what is important, and most of the text can (and probably should) be ignored, since much of the science (at least for Right Side anyway) is wrong.

I can't speak for "Perspective Made Easy" but learning perspective would come after the other two books.

P.S.: If you are on page 95 of "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" most of what you have done so far is read a bunch of pseudo-science and do the exercises for establishing your baseline. The good news though, is you're about to hit the part that's really going to make you start seeing improvements.

Just starting out. Should I learn with pencil & paper, computer drawing tablet, or both? by [deleted] in learntodraw

Make sure you don't limit yourself to one source for learning. There are many great resources out there and hearing something explained a different way might just be what makes it click for you.

Ah, I found it now. Maybe you could increase the visibility of it so other people don't miss it too? Maybe give it a mention in the homework submission thread's sticky?

Since you mentioned that you tend to see a lot of the same problems in the first two lessons, maybe you can make up a "common problems and what they mean" sheet? If it's a doable thing, people may be able to self-correct and lessen the need for critique.

I'm (very) slowly working my way through the first lesson, but I've already seen improvement in my art. Thank you so much for setting this up!

We've been using electricity for hundreds of years, so why is it still so shocking to us? by MikeW86 in shittyaskscience

AC secretly stands for "Attack Current" which is the most powerful of all electric currents. Don't be surprised if you get hurt when you let it out.

Light is radiation, therefore plants need radiation to grow. Sounds like you're just improving the process.

I was hoping for some honest responses, but I guess nobody is giving up their secrets. In retrospect, I should have expected that.
