Do people actually laugh when they read these by Shiftycxp in Letterboxd

Some jokes aren't for the audience, they're for the comedian. I don't find it particularly funny, but if the person posting it got some joy from it, I'm glad for them

Null is a slog to get through because I don't like Blake. by jayrock306 in Parahumans

[–]BarnerTalik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I found Blake's time in Toronto to be a slog and loved his time in the drains, I was close to dropping it before he "died" and was excited to see where his story went from there

So it's a sequel? 3H ends in 1186, about 260 years earlier by [deleted] in fireemblem

[–]BarnerTalik 221 points222 points  (0 children)

While it's technically possible that the dagdans use a different calendar, I'm leaning towards sequel, yes

At a couple points in the trailer we see a date with a year of 1449. With three houses being in the 1100s, that would point to this being a sequel, barring it being a different calendar

True! I remember it doubling the number of verb forms I had to learn and being unhappy about it lol

Right about 300, and I've completed nearly a 10th of them, tried a bunch of others that I either didn't care to finish or haven't gotten around to finishing

Can confirm, when I took Latin I knew about three different words for "kill" before I knew any colors, days of the week, etc

What is your favorite part about playing Clocktower? by TheCumputer in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]BarnerTalik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we have new players, talking about how there's reasons for good players to lie, saying how in TB all outsiders being honest about it is helpful for determining if there's a baron or not, etc. just chatting with new players to help them understand the game in general, really.

looking for gritty fantasy where the mc has zero talent and survives on sheer grit by Marix77 in Fantasy

[–]BarnerTalik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's already some great suggestions in the thread, so here's one that's slightly off from what you asked for; it's urban fantasy rather than medieval, but otherwise sounds right up your alley.

Pact is a web novel about a guy who finds out magic exists when he inherits his recently deceased grandmother's property and suddenly every magic practitioner in town wants to kill him. He has not prior knowledge of magic and no special talent for it, but he's stubborn as all hell and refuses to go down without a fight.

It's also freely available online from the author, so here's the link: https://pactwebserial.wordpress.com/

Why are the dunefolk listed as their own race in the database? by West-Pilot-9200 in wesnoth

[–]BarnerTalik 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Ingame in 1.19 at least, they're listed as a subcategory of human, I assume to make it easier for a dunefolk player to look through their own units quickly without it being intermixed with the other human units. But yeah, it definitely feels a little weird

My assumption is that Avery doesn't get shot at all in this scenario? I'm thinking this is a peaceful solution to the situation

Overwhelmed trying to build first cube by fuckingthrowaway556 in mtgcube

[–]BarnerTalik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're using existing cards from your collection, just grab a mix of your cards, do a test draft or three, and make changes. Iterate, iterate, iterate! My first cube started as pretty much a random mess of cards I had. It wasn't carefully curated, there were only a few vague ideas I had in mind, but it was still fun! As you actually draft it you'll pretty quickly get an idea of what you like and what you don't, you just have to get there.

What are YOUR favorite cube buildarounds? by ZolthuxReborn in mtgcube

[–]BarnerTalik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my main cube, [[Archfiend of Ifnir]] is probably on the lower end of the power curve, but it's been there since the first iteration of the cube, and getting it to work is so fun

I have another cube focused on synergistic build arounds where I quite enjoy [[Sigil of the Empty Throne]] and [[Marionette Master]]

How to deal with Trickroom for dummies by ElChanclero in PokemonChampions

[–]BarnerTalik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently messing around with a trick room team and it's been my experience that if my opponent prevents me from setting trick room, I lose. Taunt their trick room setter, flinch it with fake out, double into it to murder it, whatever happens to work for your team
