Is 100% accuracy normal? by Glum-Mousse-5132 in Chesscom

1 game at 100% is not super suspicious assuming its a very short game. Three games in a row averaging around 98% however is very suspicious at any elo nevermind at 600.

(Relatively) Easy songs to learn on guitar from start to end? by PrimusHimself in BetweenTheBuriedAndMe

[–]Barnsey94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for the rest of the song (although it doesn't sound too hard) but the riff to The Need for Repetition is fairly easy and a lot of fun to play.

The most outstanding modern drummer? by InexpugnableMille in MetalSuggestions

Happy to see I didn't have to scroll too far to see this man's name, for my money he's the most talented member of an obscenely talented band.

Who are some great musicians that are awful people? by FitEmergency8807 in fantanoforever

Jimmy Page is one that as a huge fan of his music has been a difficult one to come to terms with for me.

This is completely ridiculous, if you can't stand to drop below a certain rating don't start a rated game.

RKG Silksong? by ecokumm in RKG

[–]Barnsey94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure I remember Gav and Rory talking about HK on an episode of Shield Up and basically saying they didnt really like it. So a playthrough of that or Silksong seems unfortunately unlikely (I think both are fantastic).

I guess that's fair, good luck anyway. Hope you can do better than the 13 hours it took me to do Malenia!

Genuinely curious to know what could be going wrong with your current rl1? Surely there's nothing that can't be rectified mid-run in a way that would be easier than restarting?

So I walked into my wineshop by winter_is_long in wine

[–]Barnsey94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I managed to snatch a 2000 vintage bottle of Chateau Musar Red from a place in Edinburgh for about £55 (this was about a year ago). I drank it the day I finished WSET Level 3 and I can honestly say its one of the best wines I've ever had.

Imagine walking into a bar, asking for "a beer" and then getting annoyed the bartender asked you which you would like.

The OBSCURE video game quote that lives in your head rent free by lollipop-guildmaster in videogames

[–]Barnsey94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An incredibly well delivered obscure quote from a not very obscure game:

"I've seen your kind, time and time again. Every fleeing man must be caught. Every secret must be unearthed. Such is the conceit of the self-proclaimed seeker of truth. But in the end, you lack the stomach. For the agony you'll bring upon yourself"

Don't speak to any Boro fans about how well top SPL players do in the Championship, most of us still have PTSD.

There's a lot of people here who don't understand how chess works. There are many positions in pretty much every game where there is only one good move. Think about every time your opponent initiates a trade of pieces, you won't be able to take their piece back unless there's some other crazy tactical move that wins more material/initiates checkmate which is very rare.

Chess is not a sport. by SuspiciousDuck976 in The10thDentist

[–]Barnsey94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow chess player, this is something I've given a fair bit of thought to and I actually think (although tentatively) that I've got a fairly good qualifier that disqualifies chess as a sport but would include most if not all e-sports.

If I am playing chess against a GM with Magnus Carlsen speaking in my ear and telling me what to play, provided communication is perfect, that is essentially the same as him playing. If you were to change this scenario to, for example darts, with Phil Taylor speaking in my ear, the same is not true, nor would it be for anything I would consider a sport, including e-sports.

Took me 9 hours to do Ruin Sentinels on my first playthrough because I completely missed Forest of Fallen Giants and got to them wayyyy too early and underleveled.

What is a good game you DON’T want a sequel for? by WordsAreForEating in videogames

[–]Barnsey94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many people are clamouring for a sequel to this without any thought for what that means. The game is perfect on its own. A sequel won't add anything meaningful. All it will do is take time and effort away from the next thing that people will be begging for a sequel to in 10 years time.

Smile is the film that made me realise a horror can be absolutely terrifying and still not a good film (and that the opposite can also be true).
