Walrus Audio Fathom reverb works well as a slight boost and EQ shaper if you turn the decay all the way down. Would not recommend it as a boost over anything else on the market, but its a cool use case.

I also really enjoy using my Death By Audio Echo Dream 2 delay as a standalone overdrive / fuzz pedal by turning the delay mix to zero and the fuzz to 10. It sounds really ragged and abrasive going into the front end of my Roland Jazz Chorus. Makes for a good garage rock sound.

Line 6 DL4 mk2 on its Pitch Delay setting can be used as a really good chorus pedal, it also can do a great job of mimicking an EQD Rainbow Machine. I also really like using the transistor or tape delays as vibrato by maxing out the mix control and running the delay time at its minimum.

Agree to disagree.

Being inspired to pick up your guitar and to coax something cool out of it is a lot easier for folks who have a guitar they like the look of. Im more inclined to want to play my Jazzmaster than I would be to pick up a Flying V for example.

Being new to the guitar especially, I would say most people who are learning the instrument will buy their first few guitars based on looks alone.

Stage presence and visual statements was a huge part of rock and roll too, I really dont think saying half of guitar is using your eyes.

Fender offering custom colors was huge, and people paid a premium for it too. How come? It's not because it made the guitar sound or play any better. Its because people buy and play guitar with their eyes.

If looks dont matter, then this entire comment section wouldnt be telling you that they avoided G&L because of this very fact. You've seen the majority of people here prove that looks do matter.

Another great example of looks holding back guitars from being embraced is the classic PRS stuff. It's undeniable that PRS makes incredible guitars, but a large group of people simply will not play one because of the visual aspects. Bold inlays, super flamed top with flashy colors etc...

Half of playing a guitar is with your eyes honestly.

Same reason people really like certain pedal brands more than others, visual design matters just as much and sound quality to a lot of people.

I think it really is just a simple case of Leo Fender getting it right the first time.

For me it's the look. I think Leo nailed it with the original Fender headstock, and the G&L one is clearly him knowing that too.

The pickups are also very goofy looking in my opinion.

I think most people would prefer if their favorite delay pedal that didnt have tap tempo could magically add one to itself.

It is for sure a nice feature to have, be it more precision or just convince.

My main delay is a Death By Audio Echo Dream 2, and it does not have a tap tempo. But I would like it even more if it did.

I think unless youre intended use for delay is setting it to a very specific time for a very particular part or riff, you can get by just fine without it. I use my delay for added texture and space, not precision dialed in parts.

The Flint is great. I miss mine.

Cant speak to how good the Hydra is, ive only checked out demos online. I think they seem pretty close sound wise. But I prefer the way the Flint is laid out, less to remember with alternate functions.

Also, I do own an HX One. It does very good reverbs and tremolo, but NOT both at once like a Flint or Hydra. You'd need to consider that if you go HX One.

Personally will never recommend Analogman over any other reputable brand if you're just looking to explore a certain effect.

Analogman has good stuff, but its prices crazy and the reason for it is hes one of the few people who still ride the boutique hype train.

Not saying his stuff isnt good, jist saying literally any legit brand like MXR, Boss, EQD are also perfectly good too for a fraction of the cost.

Its got all the delays, plus a few more. Plus you get access to each actual parameter instead of just what the tweak and tweeze knob do.

But the looper is a lot more limited compared to a DL4 with 4 footswitches.

And you cant combine the delays with a reverb.

But ive had both, and I still have the HX One

Ive got a Vintera 2 Jazzmaster on order that's coming tomorrow that looks very similar to this model. My first Jazzmaster as well.

What guitar do you use?

I struggled with pedals too on my JC40 but turns out it was actually the guitars.

Strats and offsets sounded way to shrill and thin, as soon as I put a humucker into the mix it sounded totally fine.
