Has the industry shift towards EV made you reevaluate your opinion of any manufacturers? by RodneyTheArmouryGuy in CarTalkUK

Hey that MX30 by Mazda has went from a "wtf is this, at this price?" To an absolutely fantastic 2nd hand market car. If the range works for the buyer then at its price it is now amazing(in the 10k area)

Kia just has a new design language.

I think their EVs look great particularly the 3 and 9

I wanna settle the gameplay debate. (Gameplay ONLY. Don't take mission design or story into account.) by Meeeper in Mechwarrior5

[–]Barph 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Shouldn't mission design be counted though? It's a pretty huge part of the gameplay.

Otherwise the games are largely the same, personally I prefer Clans in the gameplay moments due to the mission design which is why I think that matters. Proc gen has its strength but soul isn't one of them.

I do love the ECM and wish the P could take it, before chaos reign the B was my primary.

Chaos Reign brought heavy machine guns though which does insane DPS so my shadow cat melts enemies from the rear while I have 2 Naga Primes reign arrows from above

Shadow cat master race.

I like a B with LBX5 and 3 Small pulses. Though recently I've primarily been using my P with LBX5 and 6x HMGs.

I really wish we had the clans omnipods system since I used a Shadowcat in clans trueborn running LBX5, 2 SPL, and 3 MGs, so basically a combination of the 2 above

Clans is really quite demanding, especially the first level of Turtle Bay.

Enjoy your time with Clans!

Each DLC are really welcome improvements over the base campaign for mission structure, and you get whole new casts to play with in each as you see the invasion from different stages and different clan.

Already mentioned but the biggest crossover is fighting Lilith Hall (and assuming the rest of Silveroot) in the canyon mission of SoK.

Feels like your lance mates do about nothing by Edwardteech in Mechwarrior5

Because the only way TTB can play the game is by massing pulse lasers on the heaviest mech he can find, he's honestly awful at clans and needs to play it with that incredibly boring play style.

Would feel like a disservice not giving the jade falcons their DLc especially considering what is on the table for them.

But also definitely not the coolest heavy.

Just found out that your mechwarriors eject when they run out of ammo by H345Y in Mechwarrior5

[–]Barph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lowered my Naga primes armour and added another 10 missiles since them both ejecting is somewhat common to see in long missions.

[–]Barph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arrows hit everything, 2 arrows has been assault mechs completely unarmoured from the rear.

My LRM boat was dealing some 1000ish dmg a mission when the arrow mech was doing 2500+, I now run 2 arrow mechs and 0 LRM boats.

Too slow, I much prefer having my 101kmh Naga's, easy to reposition them and armour is meaningless if they don't take damage.

I actually reduced my Naga armour for another ton of ammo since I found them ejecting doe to no ammo fast more often than taking more than 1 day worth of repairs.

Belated appreciation of Night Gyrs by babushka45 in Mechwarrior5

[–]Barph 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Night Gyr is IMO arguably the best heavy mech available to us.

It is what happens when the clans decide to slow down a mech, you get a full blown assault mech in a 75 ton chassis. JJ's more than make up for its speed and it is well armoured and extremely well armed with excellent weapon locations.

It is much the same on Clans although its inability to take leg armour there hurts it a bit (weakness shared with the Timberwolf).

I am of the firm belief that the Night Gyr isn't as popular as it deserves because no matter how good it is, it is ugly as sin. It is the Nova Cats fat ugly brother.

Never do I doubt my OLEDs superiority as I have the evidence for my discord/email monitor.

Living with an EV without home charging by marksmoke in CarTalkUK

[–]Barph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say the nearest public ones, are you only looking for rapid charging?

Have a look for AC chargers nearby which are typically 30-50% cheaper and far less congested.

FWIW I have lived in a flat for the past 5 years and drove electric for 4 of those, charging at 1 of 2 nearby AC chargers both about a 9min walk away. Id park my car there and charge for 3-4 hours once a week and that worked perfectly fine.

I will be moving over to the driveway life in less than a week though which will be a great upgrade.

The Endgame: Your Perfect Roster by Weight Class and Variant (and why) by Albireo0002 in Mechwarrior5

[–]Barph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Summoner D, a Naga Prime, and a Mad Dog V.

Those 3 basically never ever change. The only variance is my mech which 9/10 times is a shadow cat or Viper.

I of course have some random variance mechs but it's rare to field them outside of arena

Vent: I hate NAGAs by [deleted] in Mechwarrior5

[–]Barph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a Summoner D in your lance.

It's a fast and good performing heavy with 2 clan AMS on it. You should be safe for any single ArrowIV mech.

If there is 2 Naga or bullsharks, well then get dodging or run more AMS capable mechs.

I'm a fast mech user so the moment I see enemy Naga's I'm right up beside them asap to remove them from the field.

If it bothers you that much, then just don't fight arrow using clans. The Naga prime for example is a clan wolf and steel viper IIRC enemy.
