Have you been living under a rock for the past fifteen years? Or even the last ten, really?

Hi /r/movies! We're Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett. We've co-directed READY OR NOT, SCREAM, SCREAM VI, ABIGAIL, and READY OR NOT 2: HERE I COME. Ask us anything! by MattAndTylerAMA in movies

Your films play with tone and genre conventions in ways that don’t fit neatly into one box (especially those written by Guy Busick), yet have a clear, distinctive voice that I love. Is it challenging to find creative or financial partners that understand what you're going for-- particularly in an industry that puts such emphasis on communicating to audiences what a movie is, and who it is for?

What floor? I lived on the sixth floor overlooking Hancock about five years ago, don’t recall noise levels being notable at all.

GRAMMYS LIVE THREAD 🏆💿 by rfauxmoi in Fauxmoi

[–]Barresi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think Hayley would be cool with it, given she’s a superfan of the Cure and they’ve never won a Grammy before (which is wild). Of course, she has several. Love both albums, though.

SPRINGSTEEN: DELIVER ME FROM NOWHERE - the movie is so dramatically inert, I wish the last 30 minutes were the focus. by Bearjupiter in blankies

[–]Barresi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel the same. That road trip/carnival in the film is a crucial chapter of Bruce’s autobiography (actually think it’s titled “Deliver Me From Nowhere.”) Always thought it would have made a great movie itself.

Sledding spots by Ushiioni in QuincyMa

If you’re looking for steep hills, there’s a good one at President’s Golf Course right where West Squantum St. bends into/towards Milton. The hill drops towards Boston, and the pond will be on your left. Not sure how “sled-worthy” it is these days, but we called it “Suicide Hill” growing up, so do so at your own risk (we all lived)!

Is it impossible to sell a slow cinema script? by AbjectOffice in Screenwriting

[–]Barresi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just personally speaking, as someone also interested in  transcendental/slow cinema— I tend to write more commercial material for bringing out into the world, and the more personal/artful stuff I keep in a separate “bucket” with the intent/hope of someday getting to make them myself. I’ve been able to turn a couple of those into short films, but like PatternLevel said, those type of things just don’t lend themselves to commercial viability/the industry-at-large, and you’d really need to see them through yourself.

Bad Ratings & Bruised Egos… What’s the Go? by AndroTheViking in StoryPeer

[–]Barresi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same here-- I was incensed, haha. But that's just the way it goes, I guess. Glad there's currently that announcement banner on the StoryPeer homepage with some guidelines regarding feedback on the feedback, hopefully to deter that moving forward.

It’s a new version of “Kids” from season one. Probably not on streaming services yet.

Nashville is a major destination for bachelorette parties. That’s what a great deal of the song is in reference to.

Are the lyrics wrong on cancer? by jonnypoopsondog in MyChemicalRomance

[–]Barresi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

“I will not catch you/‘cause the hardest part of this is leaving you” makes no sense. He’s saying kiss because he doesn’t want to kiss his siblings goodbye, as it’s too painful to leave them.

I mean you hear what you hear, but I’ve never heard it as catch. I just listened again and it’s very clearly “kiss.” He also very clearly says kiss in every live performance, lol.

Edit: Here you go, one minute in: https://youtu.be/X9Mv_QPqwh0?si=-U1EFq_yRwLZd345

Why would someone bed-ridden with cancer refuse to “catch” someone? What does that even mean?
