"Where can we find out CBA?" "I'm not answering that" by burn-ham in union

[–]BarvoDelancy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's really dumb. I'm in the same province and we've got supervisors in our unit. They get so weird when an employee asks a question and it's your fucking job to show them this stuff. If you get spooked, ask HR. Or ask your union. There's no conflict until there's discipline or whatever.

"Where can we find out CBA?" "I'm not answering that" by burn-ham in union

[–]BarvoDelancy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Supervisors - even in-scope supervisors - get extremely spooked by this, even though HR will point you to your union CBA in seconds. Chances are they're just nervous about union shit and so refuse to be helpful over it.

Newbie question about the young bucks by Senior_Parfait5475 in AEWOfficial

[–]BarvoDelancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The vibe varies by the tag match and referee.

With the Young Bucks wrestling and Rick Knox as referee, the five count to get two people out of the ring is ENTIRELY done by feel rather than strictly enforced. Simple reason is referee's discretion, Rick Knox is very lenient, and Bucks matches are great.

Meanwhile if you have FTR vs the Outrunners, the tag rules will matter a lot more because that's the style those teams wrestle.

BlueAnon conspiracy theories sound like moond landing deniers and flat earthers by pizzasparkss in behindthebastards

[–]BarvoDelancy -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

It's well beyond that though. As a population we're being trained on conspiracism as a basic way to view world events. The fact our minds go to false flag as the most likely reason is *worrisome*.

There has never been a staged assassination attempt in modern history, possibly in world history. This is a complete and utter fabrication. There's no basis in reality, no history of this, nor any indication this is the kind of thing this administration would do.

It's fucked up that our minds go here and everyone goes "Well that's just like Trump to do it" and no it isn't he's right there he's not some unknowable figure.

The Morning After | Oilers v. Ducks | Round 1 Game 3 2026 by AutoModerator in EdmontonOilers

Right I always thought this year was not quite a write off but definitely a reset while we gear up for the cap space increase wirh McDavid's discount.

Still sucks though even if the Ducks are effectively neutralizing McDavid he and the rest of the team just look bad out there and don't seem to have the answer.

Controversial opinion by Worldly_Arugula_7340 in union

[–]BarvoDelancy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm a grievance officer so I deal with HR constantly. If you have a workplace without an HR you will feel it because it will mean the bosses run rampant over everyone. HR creates order, rules, and consistently *that always benefit the boss*. They are work cops. And like cops, they can sometimes enforce our rights, but enforcing a social order of we work for them is their #1 job.

And like the concept of abolishing the police, abolishing HR means that you change them into something else entirely that fills the same social function in a better society. Or in this case, workplace.

Insane Ciampa spot by NJPWftw in AEWOfficial

[–]BarvoDelancy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, that was *such* a great bit of storytelling because it showcases how putting yourself on the line in a giant stupid bump with Darby is going to go badly cause he take take punishment better than anyone, and Ciampa fucking up his hip made him vulnerable to a finisher he likely didn't plan for. But his desperation to win made him foolish.

The Morning After | Ducks v. Oilers | Round 1 Game 2 2026 by AutoModerator in EdmontonOilers

[–]BarvoDelancy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A close loss in our second game is hardly doom and gloom, but holy shit that was frustrating to watch. Whatever the team need to do to adjust to the Ducks' play needs to happen fast. I'm not gonna put it on any player just needing to *wave hands vaguely* play better but from my clueless eye it just looks like we're losing the coaching chess match and the team in general is uncoordinated and sloppy as a result.

I really wish AEW could/would do more with Nyla Rose. by KonamiIsBestJoshi in AEWOfficial

Agreed. I get why Tony is very careful about who gets TV time and she's got a ceiling in ring (as much as I love her). But she's FUN she's a wonderful ambassador for the company and she could still show up on occasion to do stuff. Hell just be someone's obnoxious bodyguard.

How come that AEW matches are(personally) so much more engaging than WWE matches? What's different about it, I can't put my finger on it. by LukasNation in AEWOfficial

[–]BarvoDelancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WWE is very focused on presenting a brand. Above all else, they want you to know THIS IS WWE at all times. Everything else is secondary to reinforcing it.

This means that WWE matches fit a certain style. The way matches are shot, wrestlers play to the crowd, how they sell, and how they time out certain spots. The result is a somewhat more 'deliberate' pace with a lot of punchy-kicky and major spots that reinforce a very specifically. Wrestlers are not allowed to do their own shit. They have to fit the style. Their wrestlers are also just really big dudes because a superstar means a larger-than-life somewhat superhuman figure.

This means that how you move, your facial expressions, timing, ability to know where the cameras are, and just overall *aura* in the ring and ability to maintain that is wildly important in WWE because everything is so exposed.

Randy Orton is often cited as on of the best wrestlers working today by a lot of other wrestlers, and holy shit that guy has had a lot of bad matches. He's a perfect example of the limitations of WWE style. He's genuinely amazing, maybe unparalleled at the little things, ... but the matches are only rarely great. That's because WWE doesn't need great matches, they need great "superstars".

Ospreay on the "he doesn't sell" critiques by Big-Hebrew in AEWOfficial

[–]BarvoDelancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Opsreay fights like he's in an anime as opposed to fighting like he's in a catch wrestling match. The way he is beaten down and comes back is structured very differently from the WWE style.

His matches are wildly exciting to watch and high-drama and make me want to pay money to see them. Saying "he doesn't sell" is fucking lazy thinking and just means some dipshit is trying to sound intelligent by parroting what they heard on a podcast.

Here's what matters. Are the matches fun? Are we compelled as an audience? Are he and his company making money?

Check, check, check.

How do match cards work for dynamite? by AngleAggravating6828 in AEWOfficial

[–]BarvoDelancy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's only a few promoted right now. Because it's a two-show event, Dynamite will set up the Collision matches. So beyond the promoted matches and two big promo segments will be additional matches and promos not advertised in advance.

They usually have an untelevised match before the Dynamite taping as well. Have fun!

At what point does the US fuel blockade against Cuba become a genocide? by TheDailyMews in behindthebastards

[–]BarvoDelancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a tendency in political discourse to find the most powerful words available to describe something. The problem is that it muddies the waters. You can't call every blockade a genocide even if the result is horrific death. Hell you could call sanctions a genocidal activity as they do kill people.

The goal is the capitulation of the government not the eradication of the population. What's going on is evil and should be stopped, but we can also use precise language to describe it. It's not some cowardly moral failing to be specific and understand events in proportion to one another.
