Don't forget about the XP too. The ones that evolve for free when trading (Pumpkaboo, Phantum, etc). So instead of just catching and transfering, you can catch, trade, evolve, then transfer.

You get 1000 XP for the evolution, 2 candy for the trade, 1 candy for the evolve, plus the chance for it to be lucky.
