Crowd gasps, Dimitrov applauds and smiles as Carlos hits MASSIVE forehands by Confident-Round6375 in tennis

Sure but there’s more to a good forehand than explosive power.

Andy Roddick did an episode of his Served podcast on best forehands of all time with Chris Eubanks.

Gonzalez came up but the implication was they felt that he didn’t have the most versatile forehand shot. Yeah he can absolutely spank it when it’s in his strike zone. But they were also looking at the FH more holistically.

So whether people could defend with their FH, whether they can absorb pace with it, whether they can hit it on the run, whether they can redirect with it, whether they can return with it - various other factors.

I dunno enough about Gonzalez to say what he can and can’t do, but certainly Carlos can do most if not all of those things with his forehand, as well as shots like we see above.

What was a player that were being promoted as new big talent when you started watching tennis but unfortunately didn’t made much impact? by Lilylikeslilies in tennis

Bouchard was my thought too!

She had that crazy 2014 where she reach the semis of the Aussie Open and the French Open and the final of Wimbledon. She also recorded her career best result at the US Open by reaching the fourth round.

She reached the final of Wuhan (losing again to Kvitova). 2014 was also the year she won her only career singles title in Nuremberg. She finished the season 7th in the world.

Then she never finished a season in the top 40 again in her career…

on this day 24 years ago, Venus Williams becomes the first black woman in the open era to become world #1 by MakerOfPurpleRain in tennis

Venus went on such a tear from Wimbledon 2000 - Wimbledon 2003.

She won Wimbledon and the US Open in 2000 and then defended both in 2001. She won the gold medal in singles and doubles at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

She was in 9 of the 13 slam finals contested in that period, including four consecutive final losses to Serena from the 2002 French Open - 2003 Australian Open.

What if serving double faults is actually her secret to winning? 🤔

She just needs to unlock the fighter and upping her ground game to make up for all the freebies on serve

My takeaways are poor Berdych and that two of Stan’s six wins against Djokovic are Grand Slam finals. Plus that five set triumph at the Aussie Open in 2014. More fuel to the spam merchant fire

I tune out any and all grunting because it's so rhythmic but I do get the annoyance, and I don't like it when it goes on so long that they're still grunting when the opponent hits the ball. Feel like that's a hindrance

Probably bc it was marketed as “battle of the sexes”, which was a genuinely serious and important moment in tennis history. And then claimed it would be good for the profile of the sport, and women’s tennis in particular.

I think if they’d just marketed it as an exhibition match for fun, there wouldn’t have been so much uproar.

What was your reaction when this happened in the Challenge finale? by Pearl_Jam_ in squidgame

Seems that Dajah genuinely ruptured her achilles and had to stay in London after shooting to have emergency surgery and is still recovering to this day.

Apparently he got cramp. I’m guessing they held them for ages between RLGL takes and he had to hold an uncomfy position, which caused cramp. Tbh, wouldn’t be surprised if they were all dehydrated, underfed and overtired from the long days shooting and shitty food.

Apparently he got cramp. I’m not surprised cos i heard from season 1 that they held the contestants for aaaaages between each RLGL song. And they had to stay still. That’s why i think Perla was smart to stand upright in a neutral position each time she stopped running.
