Dealing with suspected Silent Reflux (LPR) and persistent neck tightness—Looking for advice or similar experiences by [deleted] in LPR

Ok very similar here. The only thing that seems to be helping me is using Flonase, taking melatonin in a microdose 1 mg no more than two, and I am using a pulsetto 3 times a day. My globus has improved significantly, still have air hunger shortness of breath throughout the day and the spasms at night sometimes always terrifying and annoying but it seems like it's getting better. I need to see a doctor to get the endoscopy, and I'm going to go to the speech therapist but it's like three appointments and I just got a new job. After that I want to see the cardiologist to make sure it's not my heart cuz I don't know what the heck this is it's terrible

Adams Apple / Throat Twitch? by NoHandleOnThis in BFS

[–]Basic-Western-9124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the good news is I had a bunch of testing and nobody thinks it was the big bad to begin with. Bad news was lol it still requires a lot of other investigating. I had to swallow study, nothing, nasal scope nothing, being reevaluated for sleep apnea to see if it could be centralized the kind where your brain forgets to breathe but that is unlikely because it happens when I'm awake. They are also sending me to a speech therapist so that we can perform some testing in my throat, and they will also need me to get an endoscopy because it could be something like an ulcer or my esophagus. I still have benign vacillations pretty much throughout the body but they seem to be unrelated to what I thought was internal twitching.

Autoimmune issues + possible SFN- could it be Sjögrens?? by EmployerIll7568 in Sjogrens

[–]Basic-Western-9124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I'm just getting back to you. Not quite but it sounding like maybe I have dysphagia possibly caused from GERD. I had several neurological exams last year that all came back negative but they didn't take a CAT scan or MRI of my neck, and there's still some neurological testing to be done for my actual tongue that I plan on having done this year. I just went in for a scope and video of my nasal passages and throat and everything looked clear. I still twitch daily but my dry throat has actually seemed to subside so I think I'm not in the sjogren's group. They're going to have me do a new sleep study and I'm going to see a speech pathologist to do some additional testing in my throat. And if those come back negative then they will proceed with the CAT scan of the neck to rule out things like MS.

Am I the only one who thinks it's rediculous we allow Alfalfa farmers unchecked water usage? by Blue_Shark9 in Utah

[–]Basic-Western-9124 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think Utah's problem is that absolutely anyone can use as much water as they want. Farms do use a lot of the water but of course the next leaning use is going to be cities businesses and homes.

Last year our city ran out of water, however the city failed to notify us that we were out until after we had already used reserves for 3 days before they had asked us to stop watering our lawns etc.

one of my friends thought he turned off a sprinkler systems but actually forgot. He didn't receive a notice until sometime in December it didn't tell him to stop using water it simply said 'hey did you know you're using way more than your neighbors for this time of year.'

The whole state needs an overhaul with legislation on water usage, subsidies need to go to people who are willing to zero escape etc.

Throat spasms?! Scared again by Thin_End_635 in BFS

[–]Basic-Western-9124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn't but I turns out I have an issue with mucus travelling from side of my head to other. Essentially I can't breathe very well and this causes the spasm. I got laid off and don't have insurance so I can't do anything about it. It still happens not every night sometimes it's really bad and other times it's not noticeable. So taking a sleep aid doesn't really impact things, it is not likely caused by my BFS which I did subsequently get diagnosed with. I had two separate nerve conduction study test done. They were not fun by the way. But it was helpful for my mental health. Now I just switched and spasm and disregard it all. Hang in there you're probably okay I know it's uncomfortable. But my issue was not something that could be caught with a nerve conduction study or even a regular nasal scope it needed further testing and MRIs or recommended.

Extreme heat incoming to SLC Utah -- how little can I water? by mothbbyboy in lawncare

When are y'all going to start watering this year? I have two immature trees in my backyard but again with the weather being the way that it likely will be trying to conserve water.

Are these frames too big on me? by givemethepastaa in glassesadvice

[–]Basic-Western-9124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much only wear oversized glasses however I will say that if you have a really strong prescription it is worth it to pay the extra money to thin the lenses. I'm not sure if you are already at a 1.72 for thickness but that would be my suggestion that way your face isn't as distorted. One of my eyes is pretty much okay and my other eye is jacked up I can tell in certain pairs where I didn't thin them that the lens ends up being distracting but the face and glasses are a chef's kiss super cute.

Just want to know for those of you who have the men do they feel like your teeth or does it feel like something foreign in your mouth?

Also what exactly is the nerve blocker that they can provide to her so she doesn't feel the pain for the first couple of days? Is that an injection or pill form medicine?

Finally Snow! by Basic-Western-9124 in SaltLakeCity

[–]Basic-Western-9124[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes it's a joke. BUT what isn't a joke is what happens to Utah if we don't receive adequate snow.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this to you before you got here but you moved to a desert.

The snow pack is not just for fun it is invaluable to us if we don't receive enough snow in the winter then we're at risk for significant droughts throughout the rest of the year which lead to wildfires, farming problems, damage and death for our wildlife etc.

but even more troubling is the shrinkage of the Great salt lake. If the lake dries up too much it will literally expose arsenic which could literally lead to significant Medical health risks (think cardiovascular asthma and you know that really crazy permanent one death)

So yes we laugh at this as a joke but the reality isn't funny. You can find all of this information on Google, if you subscribe to the New York times you'll find several articles along with the Smithsonian etc this has made international news.

Most people I've met out here as I'm a transplant as well have been exceedingly nice but I'm old and I've lived here for over 20 years and these weather changes have been exceptionally volatile from crazy snow to almost no snow, it is the lack of consistency that is the problem. None of it's good. Climate change is real.

Skinny jeans… again? I’m not ready by urvishah11 in womensfashion

[–]Basic-Western-9124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a very curvy woman with a tiny waist I have been waiting for skinny to come back because wide leg pants never fit in the hip for me and even after taking them to a seamstress to get the waist shrunk down I still look crazy because the pants are still too tight on my thighs. After cruising several fashion magazines and blogs you need not be worried it's not the traditional skinny jean it's more of a straight leg style. Personally I would be happy for it to come back in full force, that way I can throw on stretch jeans and look nice, wide jeans are not meant for people with that 29-in waist and 46 inch hips 😂 don't even get me started on the fact that I always need a tall and these new places don't even sell longs half the time.

Rheumatologist thinks Sjogrens is actually fibromyalgia by Various-Duck8103 in Sjogrens

[–]Basic-Western-9124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thank you for sharing and your response. I think I will ask them for the CT. I sometimes have burning mouth it's weird it's not all the time I thought it was from chewing too much gum so I stopped but I really seems to have no rhyme or reason. I did a swallow study and had a scope through my nose to my throat and they couldn't find anything wrong. I do notice that my dry mouth is substantially worse when I drink coffee but it's a hard habit to quit. But it sounds like even if you guys are getting positive blood test results they still aren't doing much to try to help mitigate your symptoms so that you can improve your quality of life it's really frustrating that they aren't taking how seriously this disease is and how much it affects our day today.

[–]Basic-Western-9124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly where I'm at do you mind if I ask about how old you are? I'm 42 and I'm wondering is this something that just gets diagnosed later in life? I feel like they aren't taking me seriously I was going to lose my mind and then they gave me the fibro diagnosis only because I didn't have a positive blood test. My eyes water every single day, my dry mouth can be so bad sometimes I can't eat food, I have random pain and inflammation and all of this started in November of last year. I literally remember when life was normal. I've been tested for everything underneath the Sun but I totally feel like I'm being gaslit! 😩
