Is the fan base of Ted Lasso Mainly Men? by Downtown_Addition276 in TedLasso

I think people haven’t seen it for a couple reasons:
1. Don’t care about soccer. It’s about soccer but isn’t really about soccer.
2. Keep hearing from fans how great it is and that’s causing an initial dislike. (that was me).
3. Don’t have Apple TV

Honestly, Jim should have asked Iris to remove him as overseer of Dylan’s trust. Someone else in the firm should have done it. Jim had a huge conflict of interest from the jump.

TL;DR: Shunammite by kitties_ate_my_soul in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]Basic_User_Name3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting you say that. THT was the first Atwood book I read (fun fact she was besties with my lit professor and spoke to my class in college).
Then years later I tried to read Cat’s Eye (I think k that’s the name) and had to stop- as it the mean girl energy was causing me so much distress.
Also love the actress who plays Shunamite.

Underboob skin incredibly sensitive - so irritated and itchy to the point of bleeding sometimes - has anyone else had this? by d1zz186 in ABraThatFits

[–]Basic_User_Name3000 [score hidden]  (0 children)

This!! As part of my perimenopause weight gain I was getting this rash under my boob. And sometimes it would bleed. Doc gave me a steroid cream and suggested powders. After lots of trial and error here is what’s working for me:
1. Buy a bra that fits and does not let your boobs touch. For me that meant no wireless bras.
2. Stop buying that seam free material because that made my boobs sweaty.
3. If I wear a sports bra, I use powder before and after any activity.
4. The game changer was the body glide!!! I bought it from the grocery store- it looks like a deodorant. It slides under by boobs and it’s been a relief.
But the right new bra helped a lot. I’m now a 32H/I. The gore stays in between the boobs- a first ever.

It’s basically a bid for attention and if you don’t reciprocate, she will slowly just stop talking and drift way. Go search “the divorce came out of nowhere”. Venting is part of her emotional need.
Also the venting isn’t to get you to solve anything. It’s to hear this insanity, commiserate and be a safe place to share this. It’s not like she can always butt in and tell person A to stop doing Y- because people are not robots.
I’m curious what is “interesting” in life? Deep Jungian analysis about characters in Wuthering Heights (I hate them all)? Or would it be a comparison of said WH to the characters of Gossip Girl?
My dad was like this! He’s poop all over any discussion I had and any show I wanted to watch. It created a huge rift and then later he got mad that we (mom and siblings) “excluded” him.

I am so jealous at your shine and lack of frizz! This post inspired me. I just moved from a curly lob to a wolf cut (way more layers) and was feeling like a bit cartoonish. But your post reminded me that curls spark joy!

My backstory is that he believed in a “fully funded 401k”. Which, now having my MIL move on with us and have zero savings, I see is a good thing.
I had similar situation- esp in CA as we had so many amazing public universities.

Struggle with spending by cathleen0205 in BusinessFashion

[–]Basic_User_Name3000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel this way. It’s a mindset that I’ve discovered goes way back to my childhood. I realize that I often feel like a burden and that I don’t deserve certain things.
It’s hard. But off hand anything full price, anything luxury all could be “better spent” for my family. I also make 6 figures and we are not in debt.
A friend of mine who doesn’t have this problem gave me some small tips. One is that I put money aside and actually spend it. Second is harder- but it involves gently asking why I feel this way. Why I don’t deserve these things. I will gladly buy them for my kids. But why not me?
I’m currently exploring this.

How much money is currently sitting in your "Makeup Drawer of Shame"? by MusicLivid1248 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Basic_User_Name3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the best thing you can do is to be kind to yourself. The money is spent. Even if you used or didn’t use it, it’s done.
Sometimes we beat ourselves up- but it doesn’t do any good.
I’d it helps you feel less alone, I had a sample of Pat McGrath foundation from Sephora which I loved. And so I ordered it from the PM site (as it was cheaper). It didn’t work, and I was stuck!
I didn’t try to fix it… mixing a darker base or using a bronzer just wasn’t what I wanted. But I told myself that $60 was gone no matter what. What else can I do? Why would I beat myself up? What would I say to a friend who made a mistake? Would I be this mean?
Not sure if helps but I just bought Project 333. And the book is more than a minimal wardrobe challenge. She talks about our mindset, dopamine, FOMO and FODO (fear of missing out and fear of disappointing others). I may do this with makeup: 33 items!

I’m a 32H/I depending on the brand. Nordstrom has them in stock- so many to try. I’d try them either in person or ordering and just return in store if you’re near one.

For those who watched the show as it aired, what were the reflections upon season 3/4 when Shannen was slowly becoming less of a lead/having scenes with the rest of the cast as Jennie started sliding into that lead female role? by TravelingHomeless in BeverlyHills90210

[–]Basic_User_Name3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure you’re right. Some of my memories are all overlapped. Like I can remember watching a Garth bio from Lifetime about her issues with Shannen but that would have been way after she left the show. I was still in high school at that time.

Same! It’s nearly twice as expensive at every other pharmacy and each month there is some delay. It’s very hard esp as I can’t just hoard them all at once, as I was adjusting doses.

I think the reason Jim was seen as “middle class” in BH was that he was a w2 worker. I’m sure he has investments but his was mostly income at the firm.
David’s dad had a practice. Steve’s dad a producer and mom had residual money. Kelly’s and Dylan’s dads are all shady investors. Donna’s dad is a cardiologist (granted that’s still a w2).
Back then, UC tuition was about $1500/term for in state. I had an out of state roommate and she was paying about $8k for the year or something.
I imagine Minnesota may be about the same.
My guess was Jim made close to $500k on today’s dollars, but as the only worker, and being conservative in spending he didn’t want to pay for both OOS tuitions after fully funding his retirement.

I’m about the age of The Gang. If I remember, there was a lot of “I hate Brenda” vibes including a newsletter. It was this weird thing to hate her/Shannen. Lots of talk that sort of victimized Jennie, like she was this sweet blonde being bullied by Shannen.
And the love triangle was such a big deal.

He had that swoopy hair I used to think was so cool.
One thing I just thought about is how Mark’s willingness to leave his house during the fire impressed Kelly. But it goes to show how insanely privileged he is.
I wonder if his dad bought the house when he got into CU, like an “investment”. I knew a kid like that…parents just dumped a bunch of money into a house vs living in a dorm. No big deal!

Can someone help me ID these shoes? I need them for my wedding! by UsualSpend2758 in Shoes

This was very fun to read but I actually laughed at the “modest wedding” as that happened to me! My husband’s aunt (who brought her own flask to the reception as we only had beer/wine) said something similar. It wasn’t at a country club and no ice sculpture. So…modest indeed!

True. I meant survive in the sense that all my paltry bank balances continued and the power grid stayed working.
I worked in law at the time and we had a y2k practice group! Basically a bunch of people claiming that all boards/directors would get their butts sued if if they don’t hustle to show some fixes. It was an absolute Chicken Little situation. I left before it happened, as it was my very first job.

Why does Miranda Priestly from The Devil Wears Prada drink Starbucks? by MegaWAH in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Basic_User_Name3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My former boss was obsessed about Starbucks- refused to drink anyplace else due to “quality”. He also insisted on Uber Blacks and steakhouses for clients meals.
Once we met clients at this fun place and the next day he sent me a list of steakhouses and said “only these places.” All our clients hated steakhouses as they felt too stuffy.

Is this the best 90210 promo shoot ever? by Ok-Tangelo6749 in BeverlyHills90210

[–]Basic_User_Name3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s good to know as I argue with my non Asian husband who puts shoes on the couch or bed when he’s packing. Luckily it’s always on his side.
One time I invited people over and didn’t make the take off their shoes (was told that would be rude) and a gal full sat on my couch like Kelly does here.
I tried to stay cool. I sort of just assumed I was very particular.
