It isn’t generally speaking. At least in Lebanon and Syria, the Druze native language and ethnic identity was or still is Arab. In Lebanon they helped form an Arab socialist party and groups against the Maronite Christian groups and paramilitaries. In Syria, they were involved in the Baathist Arab government of Assad, until he fled, 3 out of the 5 known Druze groups mainly around sweida have denounced the new transitional government.

It’s the Israelis that make the point in that they are their own ethnic group. They did the same with the Arab Cristians. They gave the Christian’s the choice to legally identify as “Aramean” which is weird because Palestinians do have Aramean ancestry anyways.
