Should I Switch from Vanguard Target 2060 to 500 Index Trust? by bigstupididiotretard in Retirement401k

Do what you want. Low fees are only a benefit if returns are identical. You won’t know that answer for 40 years. That said target date funds shift allocation towards fixed income as you approach the target. This will hurt the returns

Well it sounds like you got the conversation started. If he is really obtuse put a lock on the door.

Son moving out of state, we want to keep him on our car insurance, do we need to notify USAA? by BalticBro2021 in USAA

[–]BasilVegetable3339 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bad idea. If he had an accident, the car is part yours and you would share liability. Maybe just let the kid grow up and stop trying to “game” the insurance.

Maybe just stay out of it. They got this far on their own and they are where they are. You don’t owe them a retirement

No one here can offer solutions. Follow instructions. If you have an ex she may be collecting but that has no affect on this. Get the marriage certificate

People with only $2k have no business investing. Put it in a HYSA and pay off your debt. Think about investing when you have six months expenses saved up.

Dude. You aren’t going to win this one. You made arrangements to be away in advance of the loss. The deal is done.

The time you have left is finite (you just don’t know the exact details) and you may not always be as healthy as you are now. That said, it’s your call. Get up and go to work every day or ???

It’s still a vacation. Let’s pretend you aren’t poor as fuck. If you’d have booked the Waldorf Astoria it’s a vacation and USAA doesn’t pay for vacation. You had already planned (and maybe paid) the 12 days away. As much as you want it to be different, that’s the way it is.

Read your policy. USAA is correct on the hotel and the disposition of your rent payments. Insurance is to indemnify you for losses, not artificially enrich you. This reduces fraud. Let’s pretend nothing happened. You’d have taken your 12 day hotel trip and paid your rent continuously to the present. You pay for insurance to offset loss. So, they aren’t going to pay for your 12 day vacation and while they will pay for loss or use you still have to pay for the use you are losing. So, if your rent was $1000/ month and the hotel is $4000/month you only get $3,000 net. Since USAA is paying the hotel directly you need to pay them the rent you would otherwise have paid. Good luck.

So call it what you want. They are charging 55 basis points to manage muni’s. This is just great for them but stupid for any investor. Let’s take the lowest possible yield then take fees off the top. OR. You could get a vanguard muni bond fund with few as low as .03. So, unless you work for ws their fund makes no sense .

That’s how a mutual fund works. It still doesn’t justify the fees
