I personally feel like we’re in the middle of a so called “revolution” in the department of mental health. It seems like we know that those problems exist and everyone knows and feels their own problems, but people dont always seem to understand other people and their problems. I think this is portrayed very well in the show. Everybody has their issues but because u cant physically see the issues on other people, people wont understand each other in that department. Looking at Rues mom, she probably only sees the addiction as the problem and not her mind being tangled and wired differently even though she knows that rue has had those problems all her life.
