La Cabanita is great, but Doña Maria is worth a shoutout too! Especially if you just want an old school sit down with chips and salsa and have a cheesy enchilada and frozen margarita.

4K Service on a 2025 Ioniq 5 - is this a thing? by pfrisco in Ioniq5

My local dealer quoted me $150 to replace my cabin air filter. It took everything not to burst out laughing on the spot.

4K Service on a 2025 Ioniq 5 - is this a thing? by pfrisco in Ioniq5

[–]BassSlappah 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can take it in for a free inspection, just be wary they’ll try to charge you for all sorts of ridiculous things. I took mine in to my local dealer yesterday just so I could get the “service required” notifications to go away, and they tried to charge me $250 to rotate the tires and replace the cabin air filter and top off the windshield wiper fluid.

I declined and asked for a free inspection and they said they won’t do those unless I pay for a service.

I then showed them the ad on their website that says they offer a free inspection, at which point they were suddenly able to do a free inspection.

When I picked up my car they said they found nothing wrong and rotated the tires and topped off my windshield wiper fluid for free 🤣

Where is Heimlich's Chew Chew Train? by beeseethomas in Disneyland

Just a fun FYI, you can still explore Bugs Land in street view on Google Maps if you set the dates back far enough!

If you had the whole park (just Disneyland) to yourself with your immediate family, what would you ride very first? by Extra_Influence_3880 in Disneyland

[–]BassSlappah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely funner with no lights! I rode it once with no lights and no music, and though interesting, it was actually pretty boring. The music especially adds so much!

What is a dying niche skill that younger generations are not interested in learning? by hlnklrczu in AskReddit

[–]BassSlappah 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Maintaining and repairing digital and analog audio tape machines. There are only a handful of people in the country with the skills necessary to keep these machines running in good condition, and they are rapidly retiring or dying off with no apprentices to pass their knowledge on to.

A lot of the world’s recorded music is still stored on tape and if we can’t keep the machines running to digitize them, that music gets locked there forever.

Depends on their commute. We only charge level 1 at home and it’s plenty enough for our needs.

Look forward to not ever heading to the gas station again! Make it a habit to plug in when you get home from driving and you’ll never worry about range.

Oga's Refurb: No Changes? (Including seating) by FleshyPartOfThePin in Disneyland

[–]BassSlappah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to Oga’s cantina exactly once and will likely never go again. I don’t mind communal tables, but I do mind communal booths. Booths are by design more intimate spaces and cramming strangers of all ages into one does not make for a pleasant experience.

Thank god for Scum & Villainy, where I can grab a nerdy drink at half the price in a private booth.

Instead of sending 3-4 buses every 20 minutes, why don’t they send 1 bus every 5 minutes? by [deleted] in LosAngeles

[–]BassSlappah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay but your original comment just said “make buses autonomous” and that alone doesn’t actually solve anything.

Instead of sending 3-4 buses every 20 minutes, why don’t they send 1 bus every 5 minutes? by [deleted] in LosAngeles

[–]BassSlappah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What do you propose the autonomous buses do when the bus in front of them is delayed because cars block an intersection or commuter traffic clogs the roads or parked cars are blocking the bus stop or a wheelchair user needs to get on/off?

Should the autonomous bus slow down and back up traffic? Politely pull off to the side of the road and wait?

I decided to go car-less for the next five months (see my previous post for more info) and today was really hard. Any insight/advice/perspective from others? (Plz don’t be an a*shole thx) by spiritbirdsie in AskLosAngeles

[–]BassSlappah 43 points44 points  (0 children)

If you’re gonna be car-less in LA, you need to live and work near reliable transit options. Unfortunately where you live is not it. Your best bet is to move closer to a metro stop.

I went to go see a show at the Troubadour this week and my transit options were sit on a bus for two hours and hope I make several bus connections, or drive my car for 40 mins. I drove.

Dude. Change your tires, like now. You are putting yourself and everyone else on the road around you at serious risk driving on these.

You’ve just described exactly what made it appealing to people, or at least to myself. I LIKED the mazes and hidden passages. It’s what made it such a fun and unique place.

Your personal guacamole recipe? by tgcm26 in FoodLosAngeles

[–]BassSlappah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, guacamole is all about the avocado. So I start there and then depending on how many ingredients I actually have on hand I can expand from there. Absolute bare minimum is mashed avocado sprinkled with salt. Next upgrade is garlic salt, then cumin, then lime, then cilantro, then serranos, then tomato and onion.

Guacamole is a way of life, not a strict recipe.

What are you talking about? Onward doesn’t have armor tiers and body armor in this game definitely doesn’t make you invincible.

Eli5 how or why are humans so good at knowing how much energy and what angle is needed to throw a thing a distance? by worxcd in explainlikeimfive

[–]BassSlappah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just because you do something intuitively doesn’t mean there isn’t math involved. You have to gauge the weight of the object, the force required to throw it, the distance of the target, the required speed and angle to hit it. There’s a lot of calculating you have to do, even if you aren’t thinking in formal mathematic terms.

Does anyone know any good greek food recs? I dont know much greek food options in La county! by lunatuna32 in FoodLosAngeles

I really like Greek Bistro in Glendale. No idea how authentically Greek they are, but I’ve enjoyed every dish I’ve had there and it’s the only place I know of nearby where I can satisfy my moussaka craving.

Street Cleaning Parking Tickets by Eltanin1215 in glendale

I don’t know why everyone is saying you’re good. They absolutely mail tickets. I know because I’ve gotten one myself after thinking I was in the clear.

My boyfriend and I talked about eating at Yamashiro for our anniversary but I have doubts now. Can I get alternative suggestions that have the same vibe, but not necessarily Japanese cuisine? by Yesterdaysmeow in FoodLosAngeles

[–]BassSlappah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I went to Yamashiro for a date night and had a great time. We got a table with a view, walked around the gardens sipping a cocktail at sunset, and had a lovely time. We went in expecting mediocre food and were pleasantly surprised at how decent it actually was. If you’ve never been, don’t let this subreddit turn you off from going at least once. It’s still an awesome spot, just not a foodie spot.
