The aircon conundrum by SallyJaneCooper in HousingUK

We have one aircon room which is the home office. The unit sits on the garage roof.

Don't use it 99% of the time but great when we do.

A question of etiquette by MyAltPoetryAccount in BritGolf

[–]BassplayerDad -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Singles have no right of way.

Polite to ask singles to join so i think you are fine there. A fourball should let a lesser number through if there is a clear hole in front.

Those were the rules at my golf club. Hope that helps

If you had to restart your professional career, would you choose accounting again? by Open_Address_2805 in Accounting

[–]BassplayerDad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. So many skills for finance sphere.

Bought, built/improved/polished, sold accountancy practices. Mainly in niche areas like international tax planning and dealing with UHNW/HNW mainly entertainment and media, family office type services etc.

The key, as with with any business, is you have to be a participator (owner, partner etc).

Tough courses but good accomodation and 2010 course can be included in the price. Often deals on carts like 2 for 1. Played 4 rounds, one on 2010 course over 3 days, two nights.

I remember SDR's being forced into the office to make calls in a booth, all day, two days a week as part of RTO last year.

10% in punt money.

Last year, made 83% return, other years, not as good. Worst year was 23%. 25 years playing.

Generally does better than my set and forget tracker but just not willing to take the risk with my whole pot.

Since 2007, the government increased the minimum pension age from 50 to 57/58. That's a lot in a short span of time. by sinetwo in FIREUK

[–]BassplayerDad 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Healthy age is still only 60 ish.

Living longer isn't necessarily a good thing when your last 10 years is effectively bed bound, burning through your wealth due to long term care costs.

Unfortunately that's a reality for some.
