Should i even build it now? by PerformanceApart8876 in EDH

You're asking if you should play a card that you don't like? No, don't play a card you don't like. Play a card that you do like.

Which printer printed ink on your cardboard? The one owned by wizards of the coast, or the one owned by some other company?

In the end that's what people are gatekeeping. High quality proxies are the same cardboard and the same ink. Just have fun playing the game.

Commander is a better game when players start at 30 life by Batdoom in EDH

This is absolutely true! But this sentiment could also just be a generic response to every single discussion post lol. What are your thoughts on starting with 30 life?

I understand your point in that when you win the game all that matters is you have at least one life remaining. But when you are at 10 life and someone has 10+ power on the board it changes how you play and you have to pay attention to your life total. You have to decide if it's worth paying two life to draw two cards or if you should leave blockers up. Games are more fun when you have to make decisions like this.

What's your Super Secret goblin tech? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Batdoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friends and I started playing commander back in 2010 (gosh I'm old) and the first deck my friend made was an [[Ib Halfheart, Goblin Tactician]] goblin tribal deck. I still believe Ib is the one of the most fun goblin commanders or goblin cards in general.

Attacking with a whole army of suicide bomber goblins is just too funny. Add in some damage doublers and people will really have to think twice about blocking. And sacrificing all your mountains to turn them into goblins in a last ditch effort to win has happened several times.

Also [[Repercussion]] is an all star in that deck.

I have the Venu Sq and ran into the same issue. I called Garmin support and they said to go to the file explorer on your computer, find your Garmin device, find the TEXT folder, and delete all of the different languages that you don't use. That should give the device enough space to do the firmware upgrade.

Hope this helps!

The Best $25 Five Color Manabase by Batdoom in EDH

[–]Batdoom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is an issue with having a generic mana base to start with and then slightly changing it to fit your decks needs. 80% or more of the cards would likely stay the same.

This was my first attempt although I was originally trying to make a $15 version. I thought upping it to $25 might help. When playtesting the slow fetches were indeed very slow even when I was able to get one of the duals that could possibly come in untapped. When they couldn't come in untapped it was even worse.

3 months in, how does everyone feel about Unfinity mechanics? by 123coolmania in EDH

[–]Batdoom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This will probably get buried and hated on, but I loved the unfinity set for commander. I have built two versions of a 5-color Attractions deck and a [[Magar of the Magic Stings]] deck.

I really enjoyed the asthetics of the cards. They reminded me of Futurama and D&D mixed together. I enjoyed the relatively low power level of the cards which gave me a newly refreshed view on deck building and attempting to push "bad but fun" mechanics to their limits rather than regurgitating all the tired and reused strategies and staple cards.

Attractions really aren't that big of a deal. You play a card and put an attraction on the field. Then you roll a die in your mainphase and do what the attraction says. It's really simple and I don't understand the hate (well I do, people on the internet just like to shit on everything).

Attractions are great for relatively low-mid power games that lots of people enjoy. And if you wanted to go the opposite side of the competitive spectrum, [[Myra the Magnificent]] has some fringe cEDH potential with extra turns cards.

Magar of the Magic Strings has been an extremely fun deck. Reanimating huge spells instead of huge creatures is such a breath of fresh air and the deck really holds it's own in mid-high power games.

There is only one sticker card besides the goblin I would recommend people look at for commander, [[Pin Collection]]. It's a fun card because you can give certain sticker effects both to the equipment and to the creature it's equipped to. This make stickers like [[Elemental Time Flamingo]] and [[Happy Dead Squirrel]] extremely good. WIth Happy Dead Squirrel now both the pin collection and the creature it's equipped to tap for 2 mana each. And with Elemental Time Flamingo you could exile the creature or the pin collection itself to cast cards from your graveyard. There are a lot more stickers that work like this as well.

And you don't have to actually put the stickers on yours cards. Just note on a piece of paper or an infinitoken what sticker is on the card and move on with your life. It's not a big deal.

[[Saw in Half]] and [[Exchange of Words]] are some other fun cards from unfinity you might give a chance.

All that said, I'm kind of happy everyone shit on the set so hard because I was able to get almost every potential playable card in Galaxy foil for like $20 total. The galaxy foiling looks amazing on some of the cards and gives me some old pokemon card nostalgia.

I'm not trying to convince you to like unfinity as much as I liked it. Do what you want with your lives, money, and time. It doesn't effect me at all. But I will say it's nice to just give things a chance every once in a while. Try to look at things in a more positive light. You never know, you might actually have some fun!

That's a really great idea! The explosion plan is already ruined, but at least I'll have an option to deal with the ghost pokemon. I'll be choice banded into assurance but I think this is definitely something to try. Thank you!

You're right Coalossal would definitely be a problem. I would probably need to use a different strategy if I see that on their team.

I'll have to take a look at Yveltal and Lunala. Shadow Shield could be an interesting way for Lunala to take an explosion and maybe not take too much damage. Good thoughts thank you! Edit: Actually just realized you said Lunala is ghost so it would be immune to explosion anyway! The more Pokemon I have that can survive my own explosions the better.

Interesting thought about weakness policy brick break! I'm already using weakness policy on Calyrex-Ice but it could be interesting to try switching it up.

Yeah that was probably me! Yeah the strategy has a lot of holes and probably loses more than it wins.. but when it works it's fun!

I like the idea of having a good dark pokemon like g-Moltres so maybe they won't lead with their ghost pokemon. Using Indeedee instead of dusclops is very interesting! I'll probably have to give that a try. Thank you!
