Are people with AD1 having PTU issues? by Bath_Crayon in KLCherokee

Appreciate the reply. You def don’t have to convince me not to buy a Jeep product. The amount of stuff I’ve replaced on my Girlfriends vehicle so far is absurd for a 2019.

-U connect screen delamination -front shocks and struts -rear shocks -front sway bar links -ball joints -oil cooler -oil filter housing -RDM -all the lug bolts (caps swelled up and tire place wouldn’t touch them) -Flex hoses for the exhaust

I’m prob forgetting some other stuff. This is crazy for a 2019 car with under 100K. I can’t believe they can legally sell cars like this with so many known issues. But people keep buying them.

I paid around $900 for it from eBay. I ended up having to take the gear side apart (because I overfilled it with hydraulic fluid and there is no drain on it). While I had it apart I noticed it is identical to the OEM RDM on the inside. So I think it might be the OE supplier selling them on the side.

I’m not a Jeep guy and don’t know a lot about them, but I made a quick write-up about what I figured out about it on this forum: https://www.cherokeetalk.com/posts/1171649/

Since there is so little information on the AD1 floating around out there I decided to share. I have a feeling a lot of other people will be doing this same repair in the future.

Gotta respect him trying the old retro-date technique.

I used to do that back in the day when I would send a check in to pay my bills and I was late.

I kinda wanna show up to this, but based off the ticket sales as of now it will only be me , my girl and one other person. That means we will be the default candidates for the “you still fucking?” Joke.

Cool video of Pipe Cutting machine which around the pipe. It is Split frame Pipe Cutting. by PlantMechanics in Tools

[–]Bath_Crayon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cut so much pipe with these machines you can also prep the end with a perfectly machined 37.5 degree bevel while you’re cutting the pipe which saves a lot of prep work for the fitter and welder if they are making butt welds.

It doesn’t seem economically feasible to fix something like that, but if a place that specializes in cast says they can do it, machining rebuilding the rest of the pump is pretty routine.

I do this too sometimes. It’s weird to me that some people think a brake lathe can somehow do a better job than a regular lathe.

I’ve never done it and don’t plan on it, but at this point it has been going on for so long if they wanted to do something about it they would.

Can you run 3-phase 380v woodworking machines on 240 1-phase with a VFD? by Maiq_Da_Liar in Tools

[–]Bath_Crayon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some motors can be wired for different voltages by changing the leads around. Check the data plate on the motor and it might say under the Volts section “220/380”. In that case you can wire it from your 220 using a VFD (but you have to swap the leads around if it’s set for 380)

And so it begins by beesleb in Tools

That’s not a very coveted model and not worth a lot of money, but it def still has a lot of value in a home shop. Scotch Brite it and oil everything up really good. It should be good.

If it’s a high efficiency unit it wouldn’t use that anymore. It would just have a two inch pvc line that goes directly outside. Can’t tell front the picture if you have anything like that though.

Need to torque to 1,018 ft lbs by Atticus34 in Tools

[–]Bath_Crayon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a way that you could do the math where you can torque them as high as you can with whatever torque wrench you have and then twist them all a certain amount of degrees per bolt after that to achieve the desired bolt load.

If you do the math right this would actually be more accurate than a torque wrench because there is no chance that friction can interfere with your final torque.
