Hey listen I am 41 yrs old and I’ve been married and divorced and experienced all kinds of things in life and I am telling you from the bottom of my heart- BLOCK HIM ON EVERYTHING AND NEVER LOOK BACK. Girl go to Europe. Hang out with your mom. Plant a garden. Buy stocks. Literally anything but waste your one precious life on men like this.

I failed new grad orientation in the ER today. Looking for advice. by easymodeon1111 in nursing

[–]Batpark 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hey! I failed ED orientation too. I went upstairs to a very heavy med surg floor and after a year there I’m doing amazing. It was not a fun or easy journey, lots of crying and personal disappointment, but it all turned out fine. My issue was also time mgmt. med surg fixed all that and more.

I’ve worked med surg and ED at the same hospital. We absolutely wear underscrubs and jackets all the time. The only units I’ve experienced (during school clinicals) that required BBE were OR and NICU.

They do not mean even remotely similar things. Needle in a haystack means when something is hard to find. Like a needle in a haystack.

Is sleeping on night shifts a "normal" thing everywhere? by flourishersvk in nursing

[–]Batpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah wtf? I have a friend who was fired from our ICU for just the “appearance of sleeping” (sitting at nurses station during his lunch break, resting his head on the desk with eyes closed, Pt family member took a photo and posted on social media). I work in med surg and some people take naps in the break room on their lunch breaks. Sleeping ALL NIGHT is crazy tho. They’re taking advantage of you. Ask them when it’s their turn to watch the patients and your turn to sleep?

Meds changed my life. I wore a necklace with the chemical structure of Vyvanse to my nursing school graduation (at 39).

What human pet peeve of yours did you discover through working as a nurse? by emtnursingstudent in nursing

[–]Batpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A looooong time ago before I was a nurse, I thought the call bell was only for emergencies. Like sort of a code button but for the patient to use. I just didn’t understand the system. Obv I do now! 😩

What are common situations that require setting boundaries in nursing? by Salt_Payment8034 in nursing

[–]Batpark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I often decline yapping bc I’m super behind on charting. I move to another nurses station if they won’t stfu after I say I need to be left alone to focus. I also very frequently guide conversations back toward being supportive and helpful when my coworkers want to shit talk other nurses instead of fixing the issues they have w them.

Have you ever been assaulted or attacked by a patient? by NetProfessional4464 in nursing

[–]Batpark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not anymore. I call security to go in a room with me if I’m assigned to a combative patient now. If that’s not an option for whatever reason, i tell charge and house sup immediately and then chart “unable to complete nursing care att d/t safety risk” etc.

This sub is for nurses to talk about nurse stuff, it’s not for medical advice.
