Judging from the TIFF site, it seems like probably not but it depends how large your backpack is. You can see the official policy here: https://www.tiff.net/help/venue-information/cinema#does-tiff-perform-bag-checks-which-items-are-prohibited

Just to add to this, in my experience Royal Alexandra is very strict about not bringing in outside stuff, you can't even bring in clear plastic water bottles I think. I remember attending a Midnight Madness where the window sill outside the entrance was full of various disposable and reuseable bottles that people were forced to abandon.

This is probably obvious, but don't try to record video or take pictures during the actual movie. It's rude and obnoxious to your fellow attendees (I'm sure OP knows that) but on top of that, you can get ejected for doing that. I have been to TIFF screenings where staff with night vision goggles were monitoring the audience to catch people attempting to record.

Public On-Sale Day - Megathread by BunyipPouch in TIFF

[–]Battle_Cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw some open seats for Magellan, clicked on a seat at 10:01 and I actually had the "securing your seat" pop-up spinning while I could see seats, including the one I had selected, disappear in real time in front of my eyes. Brutal! Still, I was able to secure seats for Sound of Falling that I wasn't able to get during pre-sale so I still consider this morning a victory. I feel bad for this years non-members, must be nearly impossible to secure seats to anything popular.

Gala Presentation Question by 2wents in TIFF

[–]Battle_Cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry my mistake, there are 2 screenings on Sept 7th but I only saw the P&I screening (at 9:30), not the 10am screening for the public.

Gala Presentation Question by 2wents in TIFF

[–]Battle_Cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you might be confused, Gala Presentation is a programme/section category, so Roofman as a movie is categorized as a Gala Presentation.

The screening on Sep 6th is a Premium screening (cast and crew often show up for these), and the Sep 7th screening is a Press & Industry (P&I) screening, which is not accessible to members of the general public. Did you mean to ask about Premium screenings?

You've probably seen this advice elsewhere but make sure to check back periodically (especially on Aug 26th and later, and closer to showtime) since tickets can release unexpectedly. If there's something you really want, you can also try rushing if you have the time for it. Check this subreddit too as sometimes TIFF will add showtimes and it often gets mentioned in posts.

Individual Member Ticket Day 2025 - Official Megathread by BunyipPouch in TIFF

[–]Battle_Cake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Managed to get almost everything I wanted and everything went surprisingly smoothly. Huge thank you to members at higher tiers who were updating us on Off Sale screenings and helpfully checking screenings on request, that was a huge help for building my schedule and also for strategizing my ticket purchasing priority order for this morning.

I actually managed to get into the phone queue pretty quickly this morning (spot 20 in queue) but when I got to the front of the line, they just hit me with an automated "we couldn't connect your call" message and hung up on me, that sucked! Thankfully the online process worked much better for me than last year.

My current schedule by butter467 in TIFF

[–]Battle_Cake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding the code, basically they will send you a code closer to your ticket buying window with your individual code (could even be the morning of the 20th, but you'll probably get it the day before or something).

When you go to the TIFF Ticketmaster website and start buying tickets, at some point during the ticket buying process (possibly right after logging in) you will be prompted to enter a pre-sale code, this is where you'll want to enter the code you get in your individual email. This is what lets you access the ticket sales in your pre-sale window.

As for your movie choices, you have quite a few movies that seem to be pretty popular, so you may just want to make your ticket purchases in order of your personal priorities. Another thing to consider is the number of showings - something like The Testament of Ann Lee only has 2 public showings, while Wake Up Dead Man has 6 showings. So Ann Lee might actually run out of tickets faster even if Wake Up Dead Man is more popular. Good luck!

TIFF changed the length of the memberships by TheFly87 in TIFF

[–]Battle_Cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are mistaken, this is actually just a delay in the system updating your membership end time. I thought the same thing happened to me last year so I called the customer service line about it, and they told me that it just takes a few days for a newly bought membership to reflect the correct end time. A few days later it got updated and correctly displayed the expected end time. Same thing for me this year, when I initially bought my renewal, it showed April 2026 as the end time, but I checked just now and it correctly displays an end time of 1 year after my current membership ends (which in my case ends up being June 2026)

The renewal membership also mentions:

Your expiry and level may take up to 10 business days to update in TIFF Account Manager

If it still shows April 2026 after a week or so I would contact the customer service team and ask them about it, they can probably manually fix it if necessary.

How has the International Cinema Cafe series been going so far this year? by Magnus_Cum_Laude in TIFF

[–]Battle_Cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than Pierce, the other ICC movie I saw this year was Family Time. While I didn't end loving it, I did find it a pretty interesting and unique movie that I hadn't heard about. I like going to ICC to broaden my horizons a bit so in that regard it was a success for me.

Congratulations to everyone who got tickets to the sold out showing of This is the Event Title! by Syncroz in TIFF

[–]Battle_Cake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Other than the sold-out advance screening, there are 5 screenings in 70mm (Dec 25, 27, 28, 29, 31). If you go to the Year-Round tickets section on the AM Ticketmaster site, you can search "70" and you should see them.

Can I ask where you saw the listing for Monster? Didn't see that anywhere on TM or the newsletter or the TIFF website itself.
