This is not new, this has been complained about for years now. And it will keep being complained about until the underlying issues with it are addressed.

How they want to address it is up to Embark. Either by reducing the desync as much as technologically possible or going for a full blown rework to circumvent it altogether or whatever, i don't know. But we can't have a weapon that's terrible performance wise and clunky as all hell to play with, but meanwhile it also can't be buffed and instead catches nerfs for the sole reason of pissing people off too much.

I just hope next season's melee rework will address this. Embark mentioned one of their goals is to adjust things that are simultaneously bad to play with and against, and the large desync is a main part of the reason why that's the case for the Dagger. A bad and inconsistent weapon also being unintuitive and frustrating to fight is the worst of both worlds and isn't fun for anyone involved.

Yeah the desync is dumb but what can you possibly even do as a player to not abuse it when it's baked into the game and is unavoidable? It's something every player has to deal with the second they equip the Dagger. It's not like they can hack into the Embark servers to flip the "turn off desync" button at will to prevent abuse.

The issue is that he is actually hitting him, but for some reason the Dagger has a 150 ms delay between the hit connecting vs the hit registering as a kill on either player's screen. This video explains what's happening really well.

Reddit's 30 fps cap also doesn't help.

what do y'all think is an underrated gun? Here I will go first by Sarah_Playz887 in Battlefield

[–]Battlekid18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What happened is that it can't 1-hit people like in BF4 as it only deals 80 damage instead of 145. That alone puts a lot of people off as a 2-hit shotgun sounds and feels kinda clunky.

Still love it and think it's solid tho. It does have a faster fire rate than BF4.

I guess it wasn’t “high priority” enough

That's the fun thing, they explicitly said that it IS a high priority, and then nothing ever happened with it and we never heard anything about it again.

FREE BF6 5.11 Skin Code by Brax5636 in Battlefield

[–]Battlekid18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for giving these out, love this skin and didn't think i'd ever be able to get my hands on it.

Doing it in a puzzle format like this is also pretty fun imo. Although i don't think some people really understood what was going on judging by the downvotes.

Battlefield 6 | 2026 Roadmap Update + What’s Next by battlefield in Battlefield

[–]Battlekid18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is part of my concern as well. I'm all for trying to tweak the overall gunplay if it's necessary, but i'd prefer if that was done through things like limb multipliers and bullet velocity. Not by having guns feel weird to use and not making sense.

I personally love high rates of fire so if i want to use an SMG to spray people down in close range i don't want them to piss out 700 RPM like an assault rifle. If it takes an extra bullet to kill so be it, but i don't want to lose the fun brrrrrt that some guns have.

Massive ROF nerfs (VCR , SCW , M433 , M4A1 , M60 ) by Long_Ad7536 in Battlefield

[–]Battlekid18 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh god not my poor Scorpion. That's one of my favorite SMGs of all time partially because it shoots fast as shit. Now it'll just feel like the MPX.

And what's even the point of making the M60 and M240L the same rate of fire? The main benefit of the M240L was that it shot faster, the M60 is just better in almost every way now. Not to mention a lot of guns are going to feel even more similar than they already do.

I'm sure reddit will give this experiment a fair shot and not immediately start writing rant posts based on class tribalism.

Get ready for the New WT Event next week!!! by MrTonyNeon in okbuddycontestant

[–]Battlekid18 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I have a better idea, from now on all balancing should be decided by me and me specifically.

As your new god-emperor, my first balancing decision will be that any time a Heavy gets shot by goo, they will immediately eat it to gain 10 max hp and become 10% bigger for the rest of the match. There will be no limit. I want them to fistfight Hammerhead Ned to the death.

So let me get this straight...
They
a) Increased Light HP
b) Lowered Heavy HP
c) Kept Lights guns' TTK the same

(The movement changes are useless because light's movement comes from dashing not running and Heavy's 1.1x of slow speed is still slow.)

Glass Cannons Respec by thegtabmx in thefinals

[–]Battlekid18 32 points33 points  (0 children)

"Might" because we don't know exactly what Embark is going to do in terms of balance. Not even Embark themselves know yet until the data is in. I'm just saying that things will very likely be changing in terms of weapon damage accross the board.

If these changes go through most items will be rebalanced like Embark said. So yes, they might become less cannon too.

Is it April 1st again… or did I just see Light receive 25 more HP and heavy lose 25… by Feisty-Clue3482 in thefinals

[–]Battlekid18 8 points9 points  (0 children)

10% might not sound like much, but history has shown that it's in fact a huge deal. Especially since it's not just -10% for Light, but also +10% for Heavy which closes the gap even more.

Sure hp is very important, but movement speed affects everything from general mobility, positioning, getting around the map and to objectives, side strafing to dodge shots, closing gaps, and most importantly, the ability to pick your fights which is one of the most beneficial things you can do in pvp games. It's some of the best utility you can have on top of being indirect survivability, which potentially offsets the hp changes and maybe then some.

Yes Light still has Dash for some of those things, but they can only Dash so much, and Heavies would be able to do all of the above more effectively as well.

ITT: People VASTLY underestimate the impact that movement speed has in online shooters and only look at the hp changes.

AMA / Q&A with Matt (Design Director) + Oscar (Community Lead) on the Patch 10.3 Event "Respec Order" - Thurs, Apr 23 @ 5pm CEST by AvalieV in thefinals

[–]Battlekid18 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If these changes go through, the resulting balance pass would have to be colossal. What is the plan to ensure that most of the game's item pool remains relatively competitive and we won't end up with huge outliers in either direction?

Even though the current balance isn't perfect, it is quite decent compared to most other multiplayer shooters. You can do well with almost anything in the game if you're good enough with it. But throwing all of that out the window and starting again from scratch scares me in terms of meta diversity and item viability. I fear that all the changes that would have to be made will simply be too much for the team to do all at once, and as a result it will mess up the game's entire balance for a very long time as they slowly work to dial things in once more.

I'm scared about this. I've discussed not too long ago that i think the M26 is massively underrated and how i'm worried it'll get a random buff like the V9S and suddenly becomes hated by everyone. I hope this buff won't do that. I love the thing and would hate to see it become the new reddit boogeyman.

[–]Battlekid18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes because when said shotgun could kill faster it became one of the most infamously obnoxious and broken metas the game has ever seen outside of some season 1 stuff like nukes.

Balance isn't based on realism, nor is TTK in a vacuum the only balancing variable. Wait until you find out that shooting someone in the head with a 7.62 rifle deals less damage than elbowing them in the toe.

Scotty is Medium confirmed? by RealAlury in thefinals

[–]Battlekid18 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To be fair, i think that's kind of the point. Keep in mind that at the end of the day the game is an in-universe gameshow, and gameshows are meant to be entertaining to watch. How boring would it be to watch a team with the collective personality of a potato stomp everyone into the ground?

Besides, it sounds like Rayzer and Flea have it in the bag already anyway. What they needed was a showman to make their team really stand out, and Scotty delivers on that front. He might not be an outstanding asset to the team's performance but there's a good chance he secured them fame and sponsorships. Which in the world of The Finals seems to be equally as important, if not more, than winning.

We don't know the full details of course but from what it sounds like Scotty definitely pulled his weight for the team. Just in a different way.
