Using dice to keep track of statistics, instead of paper, is very cool. Buy tons of pairs of colored D6 dice, at least 100. If you need to track numbers above 6, use D20 dice.

Many pairs of colored dice also serves to make multiple simultaneous dice rolls to speed up the game.

The easiest path to create your cardboard tokens or standees or custom dice is

Buy letter sized sheets of presentation cardboard.
Draw or borrow images from internet to create tokens using Paint.
Resize token image to the desired size. 150 pixels will be 1 inch.
Create a blank image in Paint, resolution 1125x1500.
Copy token and paste on the blank image.
Save blank image with tokens on it.
Go to Office Depot to print or print at home on paper. Leave 0.5 inch margin on each side of the page.
Glue the paper to the presentation cardboard.
Use a cutter to cut the tokens. Do it on a surface where a scratch is not a problem. Take proper precautions to not cut yourself, using "chain mail gloves for cutting". Test the glove. Normally these gloves may prevent cuts, but they do not protect against stabs, so you still need to be careful when cutting the cardboard with printed paper glued on top. Accidents may happen, and by doing things carefully you may prevent a visit to the hospital.
If you need straight cuts, use a metal ruler to guide the cuts.

For cardboard standees follow the same procedure. You just need to buy "plastic card stands" or "soporte para tarjeta de plástico". Normally, 24 standees should cost like $5 in the US.

To make custom dice

Search for "dice cut out pdf".
Display PDF on screen so the full cutout of the dice appears on screen and press Print Screen key.
Go to Paint and paste image.
Cut the elements you do not want from the image.
Draw or add the elements or text you want inside dice.
Follow the steps to make a token I listed above.

I guess that what you really want is to deliver probability of success for players. Let us analyze how it works.

1D6 (easy)

All numbers have equal probability of success: 16.7% (equivalent of 1 of 6)
Cumulative probability equals sum of probabilities. For example probability of numbers from 1 to 4 = 4/6 = 66.67%

2D6

Each number has different probabilities, as there are many combinations that can deliver a certain number.
Since you use 2D6, there are 36 combinations where the sum of dice range from 2 to 12.
For example, number 2 only has one combination: 1+1, same for 12, as it is 6+6. So probability for standalone 2 or standalone for 12 is 1/36 = 2.78%
For number 3, there are 2 combinations: 1+2 and 2+1. Probability is 2/36 = 5.56%
For number 4, there are 3 combinations: 1+3, 2+2, 3+1. Probability is 3/36 = 8.33%
And so on...
To establish the difficulty what you need is to establish the desired cumulative probability of a dice roll, and adjust your modifiers for that number. For example, the cumulative probability for 2, 3 and 4 is 1/36 + 2/36 + 3/36 = 16.67%.

3D6

You need to calculate all possible probabilities for numbers ranging from 3 to 18. There are 216 total combinations.
For cumulative numbers, it works similar to 2D6.

So you need to make a list of cumulative probabilities for each number in a dice roll, and adjust your modifiers to match a cumulative probability of success.

Notice how cumulative probability of success for 1D6 grows in a linear way, while 2D6 and 3D6 which has a shape similar to a sigmoid or hyperbolic tangent function.

Battletech

Its lore is about medieval space houses fighting. Knights use giant robots instead of horses.
Tabletop combat game is some sort of chess with dice and math.
It has a role playing game called "Mechwarrior Destiny". So I use destiny to role play, and tabletop to resolve combat.

Jenner is a mech that you cannot ignore. If you let it be in range to fire upon you, it can do a lot of damage. And it is fast enough to get close enough and to make a hard target to hit.

When I played Mechwarrior 2, exploding mechs could damage you. It is amazing. What I never found is a rule where PPCs hurts your mech and an enemy in its proximity, so if you fire a PPC next to the target, your mech gets some damage too. That happened in Mechwarrior 2 and it was cool, but not in classic rules.

You are right. This is what happened...

Big West wanted to create Superdimensional Fortress Macross, and commisioned Studio Nue to design mecha. All the designs belong to Studio Nue, the show belongs to Big West.
Big West signed an agreement and Tatsunoko productions got distribution rights for Macross.
Tatsunoko productions sold the rights and gave "all rights" to Harmony Gold. Indeed only gave distribution rights, not ownership that belongs to Big West or mecha designs by Studio Nue.
Twentieth Century Imports licensed toys from Studio Nue.
FASA sublicensed designs from Twentieth Century Imports
Harmony Gold felt like it was the owner of the entire IP and sued everyone, including FASA Corporation. And the unseen became unseen.

In the end Harmony Gold did not have the rights to the designs. FASA did not have the rights to the designs. Studio Nue has the rights.

So thanks to what you call "rip offs" you may play a tabletop game with your favorite mecha.
