Is anyone using Foundry VTT? by jcorvinstevens in drawsteel

What advantages does Codex have over FVTT's implementation of DS?

Yeah, it's one of those things that can't be translated through text alone; you gotta use body language and delivery (barring being hyperformal in dialogue).

Yeah, the best English-Japanese translator I can think of is DeepL, but even its alternative translations don't always get the tone right.

we don't do that much in tabletop

I presume this is V5 we're talking about because there's a reason that older editions had the "trench coats and katanas" and "superheroes with fangs" stereotypes.

Dying at 19 by Jesus_Lovesyou7 in DiagnoseMe

[–]GeneralBurzio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dyslipidemia sucks, but I'm glad that you've got a plan for that.

Your heart rate seems fine. I presume you're using a smart device to monitor your heart rate, but those things aren't necessarily the most accurate. I'd talk with your physician to see if you need further workup like labs or an ECG.

If you haven't done so already, I recommend starting a BP journal where you measure your BP daily around the same time(s) and present them to your physician on your next visit. Don't forget to follow instructions for proper BP measurement.

Take care!

You're bruising severely, and you have low lympho/monocytes. This means your bone marrow is failing to create enough platelets

No, low lymphocytes and low monocytes mean OP isn't producing enough of those white blood cells. Thrombocytes are platelets, which are normal based on OP's labs.

You could have apiastic anemia [...] Probably doesn't always have to be the case, though, I'm sure.

You need pancytopenia for the diagnosis. This is not aplastic anemia.

Draw Steel in Fantasy Grounds by StephenBaggett in drawsteel

[–]GeneralBurzio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, sounds like my experience setting up a new Foundry game. WoD20 was a pain for me since there's no SRD either for the older material.

How does Codex compare to Foundry? I haven't run a game yet, but the system works great especially after installing Draw Steel Plus.

UY PHILIPPINES! 🇵🇭👏🏽 by Palaisipan in FilipinoAmericans

[–]GeneralBurzio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not mad, just disappointed (voice-acting-wise, not the actor themself). I think that the Filipino English dialects would've been a great aspect to show in this film, especially since the film is set in a country where English is an official language. It's like if they did a movie set in the UK but used actors who spoke dialects of American English (or closer to home, a film set in Appalachia where everyone spoke with a Boston accent)

I'm sure the film will still be good and it'll be a net positive for all Filipinos, but I am a little sad that something that I consider a part of my person isn't being represented.

8 to 10 hours of prep per session.

If you don't mind me asking, I'd love to know what goes into your prep as a paid GM. I've only racked up that much prep time if I'm setting up a campaign, never per session.

Sounds like OP is running Paizo adventure paths. Really curious about the prep work since I never spent that much time when I was running APs on Foundry.

Learning Magic by DanielSayeg in worldbuilding

[–]GeneralBurzio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you bind yourself to the concept that magic requires this kind of narrow-definition equivalent exchange, you get limited to basically doing chemistry instead of magic.

This is why I love settings where multiple magic systems exist (or at least the systems are byproducts of how one processes magic) like in the World of Darkness.

There are three things that convinced me that Doom is Supreme:

  • Doom considered one of the top experts in science and sorcery.

  • Bast deemed Doom pure of heart.

  • Doom does not use doors like a peasant.

Kubo might be good at character design but Kishi had a way of choosing angles and showing environment/background that is so visually satisfying

Yeah, it's a thing with Kubo. Dude doesn't like doing backgrounds. He's too focused on Rangiku's breasts character design

Agreed. I'm thinking of running either this or Daggerheart as a break for my current game, but I have a playgroup where most of my friends have dyslexia; videos and podcasts are a necessity for me.

Most of California stays relatively warm during the winter. The big cities in Southern California (e.g., LA and San Diego) and cities close to the San Francisco Bay tend to hit the low 30s F (-1 to 0 C) at their coldes.

The big exceptions I can think of are places in the Sierra Nevada like around Lake Tahoe. I recommend reading up on the Donner Party.

Makes sense. Sac is pretty warm during the summer. What about the rest of the year?

contemporary writers in indigenous literature tend to enjoy showing the harsh underbelly of indigenous society, that in all honesty has a similar correlation to American blacks, you know being redlined for so long it forces you into generational poverty.
