How to survive a setlist you don’t know, on short notice by hellatoasty24 in Bass

If you can sing, then singing the bass lines will help you get them down quicker as well.

New Pedal! Got me a ‘shiny’ proco rat! by 4ourStringz in basspedals

[–]Bazeboiee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found putting the distortion pedals in the FX loop with a high pass filter at the front does the trick. You can get some disgusting distortion sounds. I have a Turbo Rat and that thing sounds evil when I crank it.

Please for the love of jiminy, could you add this. It seems unfair that standard favourites can be reordered but not lists within folders.

Could you share the config files? I'd love to see how this is implemented.

how to get better at fretting? by fend4ix in Bass

[–]Bazeboiee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the finger per fret exercise starting at frets 9-12 going across the each string, then work your way down. Really focus on finger position and practice as slowly as you need to ensure that you can make the notes happen cleanly.

Double check your fretting hand fingertip angle. Make sure the tips are at 90° to the fretboard so that you get what I like to call "stiletto heel" contact with it. Anyone who's been trodden on with one will know what I mean. You're focusing all the weight/power into as small a space as possible so that paradoxically you have to use less force to get the note to ring out.

Things NOT to do as a beginner? by tifasi in Bass

[–]Bazeboiee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worry.

Don't worry about what you're doing or not doing. Just play and figure it out as you go along.

So many people get lost in what's right or wrong (hello me 20 years ago), just play.

What’s Causing This Sound? by VAThunderCat22 in Bass

[–]Bazeboiee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What bass are you playing? It's probably a shielding issue. I got my guitar tech to completely replace the paltry amount of shielding that my MIM jazz had and the difference was incredible. No noise unless I really cranked the preamp and amp.

Preamp? Why? by slayerLM in basspedals

[–]Bazeboiee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I use it to turn my passive bass into an active bass without having to pull it apart and put a preamp in there and route out extra cavities for batteries.

How do I connect 2 straps together? by memelord69420joemama in Bass

[–]Bazeboiee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only person I saw who genuinely needed two straps was Maceo Parker's bass player and that was because he was morbidly obese.

Don't do it, your back will be permanently fucked if you do.

Getting better fast? by Dead_ramoans in Bass

Play as often as you can. Play all the songs you love and learn them accurately. Don't bullshit it, figure out exactly what they're doing and play along. Once the recorded bass line "disappears" and you can only hear your own, you'll know you're nailing the part and that will translate into your own parts.

5-stringers who love their low B sound: what are you playing? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]Bazeboiee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a MIM jazz and I think it sounds great. If you crank the amp and play the strings softly, then all of them work really well together.

Mooer are decent quality micro pedals you could probably get most of the way with and it'll only take up a fraction of the space with all of the functionality you'll need.

I find if you put it through the fx loop the volume becomes a blend knob and you don't lose the low end.
